A good question that shows that you think while watching the movie: The secret is you can run faster if you have the Spear equipped. The same is with Bazooka. Swords and Axes slow you down a bit. Switching costs about 30-40 frames but I save much more time during the speed later. The other advantage of the spear is that you can hit more frequently than with the axe (usefull against bosses with many HP) since the axe is heavy, and also spear is the only weapon in which you make a small step foreward during hitting while other stand on one point at this time. This step saves also some frames of move progressing since I do both in the same time. Why Horn Spear instead of Lance or Bronze Spear? Because Horn Spear is the weakest of all Spears which is required for the Atlas glitch to work longer. Later in the last boss fight I have even to switch to the "Bone Crusher" (weakest weapon) since this is the only one that lets me keep the attack value negative to the end.

Finally got the missing parts for Tinker. Defeated Cleoptera. This boss gives the most Exp. except the final boss (more than 18000 Exp. points, it's almost the half of all exp. I got from beginning till him). The problem was he shouts after every hit and I get thrown back so I couldn't do many frequently hits in a row. The trick is I just have to select the dog and let the CPU boy hit the boss. This way only the dog will get thrown back but if I trap him near the boss the distance to the CPU-boy is not far enough to let him run to the dog away of the boss. Also very annoying were the Jungle parts with the bushes since I had to place the CPU-dog in a exact position as near as possible to the boy after he cuts the last bush to run through it faster (watch this part carefully to know what I mean). Bought all missing equippment I couldn't before because of extremely money problems in the beginning. Tested different routes here and took of course the fastest one to get everything. Also a note: I could skip the talk with "Fire Eyes" but as I said before I do a 100% run and have to complete everything, also this small sidequest talk. It also gives some nice information about what happened and about Prof. Ruffleberg. In Antiqua I manipulated luck to get a "Pixie Dust" of a Rogue-lure to not lose time buying it later. This was the last missing Good so now I got everything here. Kind of Defeated "Tiny" (he got scared and resigned) and got the Diamond Eyes again. A very difficult thing was also to optimize the entering in the Windwalker as fast as possible. I had to place the dog and the boy in the same place to the same time in the right point. This problem I had 4 times to solve. Now comes the most difficult thing: I have to find the fastest combination to defeat the "Sphere Bots" as fast as possible to move through the corridors of Omnitopia. Planning is much more important than pure running speed here. Updated to WIP 12! www.freewebs.com/saturnsmovies/snes9xmovies.htm Time: Exactly 111 min at the beginning of Omnitopia! If you have some questions or see something to improve in this part feel free to post your advice. Enjoy! EDIT: Oops, I noticed that the Pixie Dust is not the last Good I got. I still need the "Essence" which I have completely overlooked. Damn now I'm not even sure if I get a chance to get it on the way of the right enemies I still have to meet. I will analyze it carefully.

Progress Report: I'm in the "Area D4" right before the Storage room. Defeated the Wall-Faces (the ones of the Evil Leader in Nobilia) in D3's Control Room and set both codes to open all doors. It's that damn hard (by far hardest part in the game I did so far) to find the fastest way to progress in the Corridors as I have feared before but after inhuman amounts of testing I think I manage this problem slowly step by step. As a reward this part will be very entertaining and look great. Now at almost 115 min (only 4 min longer than at the end of WIP 12). In this 4 min I did about 20 % of the rerecordings I did in the previous 111 min! Now the legendar Greenhouse is close ahead. Already planning the move combinations to pass this area alive as fast as possible.

I have Secret of Evermore on my Emulator and on my SNES. I love this game, it's the one that actually made me want to play RPGs most of the time like I do now. But I always found the Hard Ball Alchemy to be one of the most Useful attack Alchemy in the game. At higher Levels it gets powerful enough to do at least 300Dmg a hit. But it's your TA Saturn, I can hardly wait to see. I haven't even found all of the secrets yet, and I have the Player's Guide! :3 I hope it comes out soon! ^^

Something that's bothered me since the outset of this WIP, and I don't think has been mentioned yet, is the very beginning of this run. At the start of a new game, you can SKIP past the opening sequence, the mansion, the first Omnitopia visit, the intro fight with the bazooka and guardbots, all of that, just by pressing Start as soon as the "Fall, 1965" deal starts to show up. It'll put you at the start of that first jungle area where the escape pod crashes with the Bone Crusher equipped, the dog with you, and everything, ready to play. No prior dialogue required. If you're playing out the intro on purpose, or there's something vital I'm missing here, please tell me. I love this game quite a lot myself, so I'm willing to listen. Great job on this amazing run so far.

2 Reasons: Main reason is I can only scip this scenario if I already have at least 1 ingame-savestate done (.sram) if not the start button just don't work at all and you are forced to play through the first scenario. For proof just playback the movie and cancell it at this scenario and try yourself to press start. The other reason is Imake a movie and I want to show all the story of the game. If I skip it I miss many important things you have to know at the beginning as a watcher. A 100% run also includes every possible sidequest or side scenario.

Oh! I understand. I also didn't know you couldn't skip the intro on a fresh game because the SoE SNES game I've had since forever was a used copy, and I was always able to skip the beginning if I wanted to.

Finally passed the Greenhouse after much optimizing at the end. I managed to keep both characters without any hurt at all and reached the Lightning teleporter with the Dog in the last possible frame. 1 Frame later reaching and the CPU boy would get killed since the last Flowering Death would get him just in the last moment! Now in Area "A3" with straight way to A4 to reach Prof. Ruffleberg there. I will post the last WIP tomorrow at his Lab. Unbelieveable but true: The whole Omnitopia travel including collecting all items till Ruffleberg is done in inhuman 5 min! I think the hard work in optimizings was worth it.

As promised here is the last Update of the WIP before I submit the complete run here. www.freewebs.com/saturnsmovies/snes9xmovies.htm Time: still less than 2 hours (116 min) at Prof Rufflebergs Lab. Now only getting the Energy Core, last items and the final boss is left. Enjoy!

Saturn-Chan. You are a gaming GOD! I don't think I could ever hope to beat the game in such a short amount of time. Cause I like to build up cash to buy Armor, and strengthen my weapons. I haven't downloaded the WIPs, cause I'm waiting for the movie, if it gets published. I'm hoping it does! This is a 100% run as well, right? I'm keeping my fingers crossed! ^^[/quote]

It is a 100% run and I do my best to finish it soon. I also haven't expected myself to complete the game that fast before I started this project. 2 hours and about 10-20 min is pretty nice for a game which requires at least 10 hours to complete for a advanced player on normal conditions.

I agree Saturn-Chan. -Giggles.- Even I don't normally complete the game in less than 10 hours. This is one of my all time favorite games. Next to EarthBound and Super Mario RPG, and that's saying a lot. That's why I'm awaiting the arrival of the Movie, and hoping it will be in AVI format. :3

I was kind of hoping that the SoE TAS would be up when the site was. I do hope the wait won't be much longer. I haven't waited this eagerly for a run since the Super Mario RPG TAS, hehe. :3 Anyway, hope it's up soon! ^^

Finally got the energie-core in Gothica along with some formulas and returned to Omnitopia again. Now the way goes straight to the final bosses! Since the last bosses have very much HP and are many in a row there is much work to optimize the fights. At least this will be the best and most interesting battle in the game.

Well, I have good news: I just entered the final boss room and am at the beginning of the battles. I played through the bosses dirty (live without any tools) and got a time of 2 hours 6 min and 30 sec at the last hit to kill the last boss, I hope I can cut this time to less than 2:06 with tools maybe even more, but now there is a problem: Should I stop the input right after killing the last boss to get this 2:06 time (the last dialogs progress automatical but much slower) or should I scroll through this dialogs with auto-fire till the credits? Shortly: Should I aim for fastest Input time that is needed to reach "THE END" screen (the good thing is that the last dialogs are readable on normal speed wich is good for the understanding of the story) or should I aim for the fastest total time (also faster time in the potencial AVI)?

I'm of the school of thought that says it doesn't matter if credits are fast or not. But if you *need* to press something to make the credits continue you need to. If not it's ok to let them timeout.

If the last dialogs progress automatically, you can stop the input as soon as the last boss is killed. It doesn't matter if the dialog goes slower. It's actually good if it's readable.

Thanks. Yes the last dialogs progress automatical just slower, which will be about 2-5 minutes longer in the avi since there are many of them. I don't need to press any buttons after last kill to reach "THE END" screen.

Is there a way to manipulate it to make the dog do the last few hits and you can stop it even earlier?

Omni: No I'm still at the beginning of the final battles, I just tested ahead yesterday but now I have to optimize it with tools. If everything goes well and the luck is by my side I will do it in about 2-4 days. There are a lot of frame-saver and I want to find them all 'cause its the last thing to do. Blade: A nice idea. I didn't even thought about that before. This could possibly save some more sec, but it would be much longer in the final result since the dog have to charge and his hits take much less damage than the glitched boy. This is the same situation like in flagitious' Super Mario World movie where he decided for the fastest kill of the boss instead of the fastest Input. Lets just wait till I reach this point to get a better picture of this and decide then.

As feared before, optimizing the last battles will take some time. Sometimes the boy miss some attacks, sometimes they don't take maximum damage, sometimes the enemies apear in different frames on the screen and there is a lot randomness. I'm right before the appearing of the Bad Boy via Flash. Then only the Bad Dog, Magmar and Finally Carltrons Robot (he has 30000 HP) is left. I also found out that if I don't kill the last 3 Death-Spiders (don't have to kill them to progress) I can keep the spear till the end and don't have to change to the Bone Crusher. The problem is there is some lag then because of many enemies on the screen. Weapon-Switching takes about 100 frames so I have to test if its longer than the losing frames of the lag. Hopefully can finnish it in about 2-3 days. I just need a break sometimes with this...

This is it! The run is complete. I managed to keep the Spear till the end by not killing the 3 Death-Spiders but pushing them in a corner so that they are not viewable on the screen. The CPU lose them of his memory and therefore it didn't even lag. Now to the point of cancelling the Input even earlier and letting CPU kill the boss: It won't work. The boy moves always away to recharge and the Dog make to less damage so it would be very long and looks ugly. I kept the input till last hit and canceled it then. I reached a awesome time of 2 hours 4 min and 6 sec! 2 min better than I expected. I will submit the movie in a while, it takes some time to write the description.
