Saturn, you can save more time in all worlds mainly in prehistorika in case you make use of the multiplication-area trick of the game. this allows you to have easy access to (with manipulated luck incredibly) much more incredients, items and call beads. the trick in perfection is published here in german. you have to translate it before. http://www.rpg-dreamer.de/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=680
I was well aware of the ingredient multiplication trick when working on my run back then. You can see it clearly in Mammoths Grave and Bug Muck, where I pick various ingredients in a specific order to get more Clays for the important Hard Ball formula, despite that it takes a slight detour. There are sure ways to get even more ingredients out of this trick, but the detours to run back and forth would get too big that way, so I only abused it to the absolute minimum in order to have just enough clays to kill the Prehistoria bosses. Still, thanks for the mentioning, I'm sure this will be of some help for evilchen anyway. And evilchen, nice bridge trick you used in Bugmuck. Looking forward to see more progress of you. kwinse: Try this (created with "Google Translate").

I prefer the 100% run, because you can actually use these runs as guides too while you are playing the game =p Tell me how you hit so freakin hard in the game and I didn't quite get at the dessert area why you waited out there for so long.

Atlas Glitch - save with stats temporarily modified, temporary values are saved, die, and load, and the stats are now permanent -of primary use increasing attack with the formula using Atlas medallions (name of which eludes me) and Spice+Rice trick- wait in desert takes you to an underground chamber, gets you 99 spice and rice, used to speed up the trading sequence in market to get everything.

Yes, I know this. I think it was a special point in the desert. No glitch, just a shortcut. But it was a long time ago, that I maybe read from it (maybe in a German VideoGame Magazine). Not 100% sure anymore.

Randomly found the Saturn SoE run on the Tube without coming here first. I'm almost positive that the desert teleport is part of the game and not a glitch. I would say that yeeears ago I found/read about it, but then I might be making up memories! The forest maze lasted way longer than I remember, considering how optimized this run is compared to the snail pace at which I would travel and stumble. I was even hoping that a second secret would be shown unaware to me.

Glad to see you're still working on the run, evilchen. There is only one spot in the desert where you get teleported towards Nobilia. This spot obviously repeats if you move up, just like the screens do, but the location of it within the screens never change. Just check my run to see exacty where this spot is. Good luck on the further parts of the run. Looking forward to see it done someday and how much faster the any% would generally be compared to my 100% run. :-) PS: As for whether the desert-warp is a glitch or not, I think it is one. It's so irregular and unrealistic that I highly doubt it's a intentional addition by the programmers.

ah thanks... i would have liked not to copy that but if its the only way.. sometimes it happend to me on console i never knew why and under what conditions... if they really intended to make a shortcut like that they f*cked up how it is displayed and shown it really looks like a big glitch or unfinished thing btw its intresting that if i pick up 2 different items for example, the first changes the amount of the second item and vice versa - that makes it really hard to find optimal item pickups (sometimes i pickup items i really dont need but they increase the amount of needed items on the NEXT pickup... strange huh?)

Yeah, that was mentioned before as well. The amount of items you pick up always depends on the previous one. Btw, do you plan to post WIPs of your run, or rather prefer the big release?

That's a great video Saturn. I remember getting so mad when I couldn't figure out how to make the glitch work in 1998. You mentioned Defender, does it work for the Speed formula too?

Nope, I guess because the hit- and evade rates only go up until 99%, regardless how much you level up the formula in normal conditions. Although you still get 65000+ values on them after the restart, it seems to always end up with the opposite effect, resulting that you miss absolutely every hit, while the "true" evade rate stays the same, with casual enemy-attacks still going through. To my experience, only Atlas and Defend can be of benefit with that glitch.

Hey guys, I've been trying to find the timer for the "15 minute" grind that starts in Nobilia in the RAM. Would anyone happen to already know it because I'm turning up nothing. :( Lots of new tricks have been discovered for this game and I'm hoping to make a TAS of it at some point for the Any% category. Aiming for sub 1 hour. Anyways, thanks in advance if someone happens to know what the address to watch is.

My strategy would be the following: -Before you start the timer it's not moving, so run around a bunch, keeping only values that have not changed. -Start the timer. Now do random stuff and keep only values that are decreasing*. -Certain gameplay states I know are confirmed to not tick down the 15 minutes - like being in the menu or in a transition, right? - so go from gameplay to paused timer asserting the value decreased, then repeatedly while it's paused assert it is unchanged. *If you get nothing, the timer might increase from 0 instead of drop to 0, so come back to here

Didn't think about it possibly increasing over time. I'll do some more searching and post if I've found it or not tomorrow or whenever I get the chance to do some more testing. Thanks for the reply Patashu.

Provide a save state (and sram if possible) when the timer begins and I'll find it.

Unfortunately the save I was using for testing ended up getting used to test another thing during the magmar fight (which is a giant PITA). When I get another one close I'll post the SRAM and probably a WIP for Act 1. Here's hoping it doesn't take too terribly long and thanks again for the help Patashu/Pasky. edit: Thanks Darklink.

We think this are the files you need: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6rutz19reuswbk3/Secret%20of%20Evermore.008 https://www.dropbox.com/s/hp06ex9qg729cio/Secret%20of%20Evermore.srm I used snes9x (x64) v. 1.53 note: walk right and you'll enter the city which activates the timer

That sram is incorrect, so I can't load the game in a debugger. I was able to get the savestate loaded. How do I know when the 15 minutes are up?

When the 15 minutes are up you can exit right from the marketplace and a cutscene starts with a big crowd.

Ok definitely found something related to the timer, but gonna need a proper SRM before this area. The one posted is still in the ACT 1 I think in fire eyes village. I need a debugger to find out how the address is written to. EDIT: Actually, how do you save in this game? XD I can just make a save with the timer already started

Some NPC's let you save the game. The last time I saved was in Fire Eyes' village indeed. If needed I can get you a save closer to Nobillia, before the timer has started. But that would mean you'd have to cross the desert first before you can enter Nobillia. I can also provide different savestates and if it's really needed I can redo it all in Bizhawk.

No that's not necessary. I already found what I needed and got it successfully in the debugger. I'll update with any progress when I have time, this is no traditional timer as expected.
