I think it would be interesting to see a speed run competition of Commander keenm episode 1 (lost on mars). As far as I know, it's shareware, so anyone can compete :D

I would personally prefer CK4: IMO, it's the best of the series. I don't think it's possible to record movies in DosBox anyway :(

I've beaten CK1 in just under 5:30 before. However, like bobxp said, there is no reliable way to record it. If one is found, I would like to practice up again and submit it to SDA.

I think the best for speed-run would be Commander Keen 6: Aliens ate my Baby Sitter. That's because we (my brother and me) found several cool tricks on the game that can't be done on CK4, like the one that let Commander Keen fly. Commander Keen 1 is the easiest of the episodes, by the way. If I remember correctly, I was able to skip one or two phases entirely.
No.

Yeah. I've only played the first four games. Out of the original episode, the first part is the easiest, the third part is the hardest, and the second part is just right... I think. I remember the fourth one introduced better graphics and sound, savestates, and the removal of annoying acceleration, but I haven't gotten around to trying the fifth one yet.

For Commander Keen 1, you only need to play 6 levels to beat the game - Border Town, Pogo Shrine, Treasury, Capital City, Emerald City, Ice City, and the Vorticon Commander's Fortress. Commander Keen 2 requires 10 levels to play, and Commander Keen 3 doesn't have very many levels, but you'll be screwed at the Mangling Machine if you don't have enough shots, unless you practice it like crazy so you don't waste any. In the second one, I was able to find a way to pass through doors in some instances without the keycard. I believe it works in all of the first 3, given the right conditions. I remember a level where you need to have 3 or 4 keys to go through 3 or 4 doors all in a row, but I was able to go through them :)
