HCZ2 completed. http://img229.exs.cx/img229/1940/s3kbobxp55if.png Same deal as before, save target as and rename to gmv. I've not redone all the other special stages, but I've done the last two without perfects.

As I said, getting PERFECTs is my objective. Getting 50000-point time bonuses is not my objective.
As the special stages seem to be a favorite of yours, have you considered doing a Sonic 1 + S&K run?

Yes, I like Blue Sphere. But a S1+SK run would be very very boring to watch.

One very quick bit of research I did: The amount of time it takes to move 1 square starts at 16 frames and slowly goes down to about eight or nine. The amount of time it takes to turn is also 16 frames, but that does not change as your speed does. The distance you jump is constant and consistent with your speed; the distance a tiny bit more than three squares; not enough to clear three red spheres, but just enough to make it so you can't cross a string of red spheres more than about 12 spheres long. It is possible to jump over two consecutive white spheres without bouncing.

Is it possible to turn towards a white sphere, jump, and then jump again at the second white sphere without bouncing? In SS #5 I tried this, but it didn't work.

You mean where there's a space in between the white spheres? Yes.

Ok, I'll try that some more when I redo the 5th stage.

*mass bumpage* I've completed MGZ. Don't ask me why there is a random slowdown just before I turned Super Sonic in MGZ2, I wasn't aware of that when I recorded. Still, as I said, I won't be too bothered about speed until I've got all the routes done. http://mercury.walagata.com/w/bobxp/s3k_bobxp_5.gmv

I tried doing this run a while back, didn't post much about it mind you, and the only stuff everyone here saw was absolutely horrible. The main problem I had was finding all the special stage rings closest to the main path. But then if you got Super Sonic early, would that counter-act the time it takes to go off course for some, not to mention getting enough rings to turn to Super Sonic. You could of course get the Special Stage rings to gain 50 rings quickly... If I can find all the stats I made on the game i'll post them to you, but I don't know whether I will. Personally, I like the idea of getting the emeralds, as I would like to see the 100% completion. I'd sure like to see getting all 14 emeralds and going on to the actual final boss and getting the best ending. You may see somewhere about me posting with the emeralds, and others arguing against it. I started doing a Sonic 1 run but I had some problems with finding the fastest paths in the latest levels, I'm not good at that sort of thing. Sonic 2 was harder for me because it meant finding the fastest path that includes 50 rings and a Post, which as I said I'm not good at finding paths. I'm good at optimising a section however so if you need any help on that I'd be glad to help.

I found it quite easy to find the rings by the main path, in the Sonic 3 levels anyways. As you should have seen ;)

I've done this before. But not with emulator slowdown and rerecords until now.

Well, I play S3&K a lot... obviously not as much as SprintGod but enough to know most of the paths off by heart. Except in CNZ and SZ. Those two are extremely hard to memorize because they're so "open". I'll have a look for your run, too.

The only runs I've posted on the net are horrible, so don't worry about looking for it. If i can find what I ended up with I'll send it to you though. Oh, and if you need a site to post your runs, I can always put it on mine, although you wouldn't be able to link directly according to the host.

I found it anyway. Firefox rocks for search. :P It did suck quite a lot.

Well, I'm jumping around quite a lot, but until my no-ip is up constantly, Walagata will do fine. EDIT: http://mercury.walagata.com/w/bobxp/s3k_bobxp_7.gmv I decided to start over, as my previous run desynced twice. That's AIZ1. I'd say it was much better than the old one. EDIT2: I'm on a roll tonight. Completed AIZ2, in 1:33. AIZ1 was 1:03, btw. Frame advance REALLY helps. Yup. EDIT3: Completed HCZ. Can't remember the times, just watch the movie :P

Wow, I never thought I'd see this run! Definate improvements can be made, at least I think there are.

Umm... I can't watch that, as it doesn't use the no save slot...

It's a Knuckles in Sonic 2 run, so you're loading it with the wrong game entirely anyway.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

Ah. Sorry for posting it in the wrong thread. Could someone move it to the proper thread?

So is this run dead? I was looking forward to see Super Sonic at his full potential at last.

DOH. *bangs head on desk* I'll watch it after I post this. edit: maybe when the link works.

Not exactly, it's just that the 4 or 5 desyncs I had all in a row destroyed all my progress after the end of HCZ2 several times over. So I'm pretty discouraged from working on it, atm. Still, I appreciate your interest :)

Well you asked for progress, so you've got progress. http://mercury.walagata.com/w/bobxp/s3k_bobxp_8.gmv HCZ2 and MGZ2 have been re-done now. I still need to find a way to speed up the bit where I'm waiting for those stupid slow blocks to move right after getting the 6th emerald though...
