It's story of a yellow mouse...
Pocket Monster is a pirate game based off the Pokémon series for the Genesis and SNES, in this hack the player controls Pikachu through numerous sidescrolling levels. There are 5 levels in total, with a boss at the end of each, as well a mini-boss in the first level of the Genesis version. Pikachu can jump on enemies and use a special move which clears all of the enemies on the screen, although the latter can only be done when the charge meter is full (indicated by a numeric counter in the Genesys version, which is full when it hits 20). The graphics are ripped from numerous sources. The backgrounds are ripped from numerous Genesis games, including Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure , Mr.Nutz ,Quackshot , Magical Taruruuto-kun and Monster World IV .
Differences between Genesis and SNES versions:
  • -The Genesis version is set to Normal difficulty by default, while the SNES version is set to Easy.
  • -Many of the bosses in the SNES version are smaller and follow a set movement pattern.
  • -In the Genesis version, Pikachu can jump in mid-air before he falls down after touching an enemy (double jump).
  • -In the Genesis version, you fight Onix as the final boss.In the SNES version, you fight recolors of the previous bosses with AI differences (boss rush arrrggg, it's so long!).
It's for these reasons i chose the genesis version.
Difference between normal and hard difficulty is simply when pikachu received damages, in normal mode he receive 10 of damages while in hard difficulty 5 more than , for a total of 15.
game objective:
  • -Play the pirates game version on Genesis
  • -Take damage to save time
  • -Choose to play in hard difficulty
  • -Uses a minor glitches to save time
technic and glitch:
-Jump Under The Screen (JUTS glitch); It's possible to jump under the screen 4 frames before you dying (not possible in level 3).
-Platform are magnets, when you jump for reaching an platform and if your jump is a little short (in pixel) then it become a magnet for go on her.
-when you take damages it's possible to jump after this.
-It's not good to use pikachu's lightning power , it's slow and it killing all enemies on screen but it's not a damage booster for killing bosses.
-The corners wall have the worst hitbox of the game, then it's easy to use this for enter into the walls.
BOSS ADDRESS:
  • level1.....E512
  • level2.....E4D2
  • level3.....E5D2
  • level4.....E532
  • level5.....E472
Explanations level by level:
Level 1:Skip the little boss with the "JUTS glitch", save time with collisions errors on wall corners and killing Ronflex (in french). Boss 1 = 288 (RAM value) and K.O at 256 (32 hits)
Level 2:Vertical level, use damage for save time, numerous jump frame perfect and go to turtle boss. Boss 2 = He is more difficult as the first boss, because I have manipulate his shape for save time... 5 hits for a good night
Level 3:Just coordinate jump, damage, double jump and jump on enemies for finish the level and meet the boss. Boss 3 = 288 (RAM value) and K.O at 256 (32 hits);not a problem just stun it and continue to attack on a first frame after the invulnerability frame.
Level 4:Take damage and jump...It's a classic level and the boss 4 is as easy as boss 3 or boss 1.
final level:take damage and serial jumps, take one heart of life for continue to take damages.Boss fighting isn't difficult just frame perfect because he haven't invunérability frames. And the ending word is "WHEN THE ROCK MEET BRUCE LEE-ACHU"!!Lol!!
Thank's for read this and all TAS on web and excuse me for my hazardous language.

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: A decent bootleg game run, but it gets kind of repetitive and dull in some areas. Accepting for the Vault.
Spikestuff: Publishing.

Pretty good job! This hack is a little better than I thought it would be, since the enemy double-jumps make things more interesting. I also like the use of JUTS in stage 1. Most of the boss battles are unfortunately really boring, except the last one. I think the actual platform mechanics are similar to many non-hacked games, and they were moderately entertaining. I'm between Meh and Yes as my vote choices, so I'll go with Yes. EDIT: Good translation; your English is not bad! For "comportement" with the second boss, I would use "form"... you manipulate his form (or his shape, if you like that word better).
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I think it's not the game of the year and I join you for said he is not very interesting on all boss fighting parts, I like just the last fight for the one simple reason...pikachu seems to be furious due of an quickly serial damages on the boss! Thank's for vote yes and your encouragements (my English is not bad...I vote Meh!!Lol!!Big thanks).

Kurabupengin: Don't be rude. Zoboner's English skill was pretty good. My use of a semicolon in your quoted part may have been a bit awkward though. I guess I pay more attention to these details with French authors because I speak some French, so I understand certain mistakes in English a bit better. About the run itself, I agree with zoboner about the last boss. That's the highlight of the run.

Good work on the run. The glitches were fairly cool, but unfortunately the overall pace of the game is too slow to really be exciting. The boss fights drag on especially, although the final boss made up for it somewhat. I'm voting 'meh' for entertainment. If the bosses wouldn't take so long, I would vote 'yes'.

I'm going to write this is mainly because of a language barrier thing. But I don't think it was meant to be branched as "hack%". I got concerned due to this, thinking that the Author was deliberately using something like a bad ROM or cheats. I didn't want to actually view this TAS until I got pings about it. I'm gonna go ahead and give it a Meh vote. But I am concerned on the Difficulty Choice. As I know for a fact the only difference is the amount of damage you can take from enemies and actually give back. Possibly lowing difficulty to reach new areas, but whatever.

Spikestuff: I choose "hack%" because it's a non-official game, I understand the confusion. My tries in easy and normal difficulty give just more damage (5 for easy,10 for mid and 15 for hard), it's not possible to give more damage on boss or decrease their life bar and for goten a new area...play pocket monsters 2 lol. scrimpeh I join you all boss are slow but it's impossible to reduce fight time. I understand you vote Meh for this reason. Thank's for your two vote and explanations.

Well, even the TASes of actual ROM hacks that we have (TSRPR, Extra Mario Bros.) don't have that particular branch, so they are branchless. Instead, they have the "Unofficial game" tag. By the way, this is a bootleg game, not a ROM hack.

Sweet Zarquon, that first boss. I know Snorlax is supposed to be tanky, but HOLY DAMN IT'S THE BOSS FIGHT THAT NEVER ENDS.
