Hey all. As many of you know, the website isn't responsive. So when you try to browse the site on mobile, you have to zoom around and it's hard to click on links or view content. After discussing with Nach, I decided to give a shot at designing a MOBILE version of the site (mobile-only, not a site redisign). This version has less content and it more oriented towards people that want a quick look at what's new and have plenty of YouTube links for easy watching. This is why a lot of content has been stripped down to keep the minimum. This would basically be a redirect from tasvideos.org to m.tasvideos.org when you browse the site on a mobile device. The project is hosted here: http://cohanc.com/tasvideos And the code is open-source: https://github.com/nahoc10/tasvideos Screenshot: Note: this is mostly a proof of concept and I'd like to have your feedback. It uses the site's RSS feed for the content. I haven't put many hours on this, so features may be missing, broken or just ugly. Bear with me please. You're also welcome to contribute on the github repo.

Can I get an option to use whatever version I want to use? Like at the bottom of the page. Also, does this affect the forums too?

Yes, there would be a link to request the desktop version of the site. And no, it doesn't affect the forums.

It always annoys me to no end when websites give a mobile version of their pages when browsing with an iPad. Mobile versions of webpages are designed for very small screens. An iPad is not a small screen; it's effectively a normal screen, and in general the normal webpages look and are usable just fine.

It is a relief to know that a Mobile version is in the works now for TASVideos! Hopefully it will add on more as time goes.

looks good imho, and it´s nice to hear that there will be a button to change it back to the normal webpage.

Isn't the proper solution to change the style based on screen resolution with an @media screen selector or the media attribute?
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"
media="screen and (max-device-width: 480px)" href="my-mobile-style.css">
That way the site can adjust when resizing windows, rotating a tablet etc.

It's always better to give the user at least a choice.

Screen resolution is a bad indicator nowadays. Many cellphones already use full-HD (1920x1080) resolution. The physical size of the screen is much more relevant than the resolution.

Thank you so much for doing this as a separate version. So many sites just force a mobile-friendly design on you, which makes the experience worse for everyone with a device larger than a phone. That practice should be banned!
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

Frequently when coming to the main page I want to quickly skim over the latest publications and submissions, and the current lists do the job perfectly. An option to have something like that (perhaps as a "compact mode") — without embedding the screenshots and descriptions — would be really nice.

That's a nice idea; I often use my S5 mini to browse the site and I keep zooming out and in all the time.

Please don't assume that anyone using a smartphone isn't interested in accessing all the site contents, especially in the case someone is browsing it for the first time. Shouldn't be possible to pack nicely all of the desktop site stuff in the screen?

To put it simply, I just don't like it at all. Your current draft surely has nice text sizes for a smartphone, but for the rest you've just replaced the good old home page with the Recently published movies page, while just adding screenshots and descriptions (which is fine) and: 1) Leaving huge blank spaces on the right of screenshots 2) Showing the rating with a bar but not numbers 3) Desfiguring the screenshots with a YouTube button and... rounding off corners... Also, what's with the navigation bar stuck on top? It's just plain annoying.
