You mean jumping on crumble blocks? The WIP itself is brilliant, no less.

Now how come I didnt think of that (the boss door thing) and I've really got to test out how fast/much you gain speed per frame although if you stand at the very right of the room, can you launch 2 beams and a missile and save time

No, the boss doors.
Even the best player is limited by the speed of his fingers, or his mind's ability to control them. But what happens when speed is not a factor, when theory becomes reality?

hmm, sorry man, didn't want to spoil the surprise and completely forgot to give credit. tdk was the one who found out about and informed me on the double shot on boss doors. And I both hate him and love him for it :P.

By the way, guys, why won't you gather all the useful tricks, glitches (especially the recently discovered ones) and memory addresses, and make a descriptive trick-page like this one, for example. Having them in common knowledge never hurts.

I will as soon as I've found the pixal per frame for >< frames stuff, like how many frames it takes to Speed Boost and Space Jumping, and find all the Memory Addresses and explain what they are and also the us edition has different memory addresses to the Japanese version

Well, I'm not new to the board nor am I new to the site, however I am new to posting. I don't make very many posts. But here goes. Because of how much I love watching TAS's and how much I love Metroid Fusion. I've begun working on my very own. I would like to post my WIP to get some advice. Currently working for a 100% completion run, and so far I've only gotten through to killing Arachnus. But here goes nothing I suppose. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1879/Metroid%20Fusion%20%28fixed%29.vbm Don't hold back. If you see any blatant mistakes, or things requiring tweaking, let me know. I will try to keep posting updates regularly too. P.S. Be Gentle :)

Er, ok, so now we have 3 people working on a 100% TAS? Edit: it seems like we'll all be stealing each others ideas :/

I think the most important time saving techniques and strategies will be in the bosses i spose. Edit: Besides, how many people have done SMB TAS's. =)

Honestly, I would like seeing that many people trying to TAS NES Metroid, Super Metroid or Zero Mission. With all the linearity (I mean, "unbreakability" and the lack of significant time-saving techs) Fusion provides, the core difference between different runs in the same category mostly lies in better timing precision and handling of the game engine. Nothing revolutional. Deign, I've watched your run in the morning, and all I can say is that it looks very good. Some deeper analisys may follow when I return home.

Thanks Mooz. To TDK, now that I think of it, I can't think of who the 3rd person would be...

ok, in cronological order; You lost 4 frames in the 3rd room, 2 frames for not doing the 1st Wall Jump and 2 from not doing the 2nd Wall Jump
  • In the Qurantine Bay you should have span after the 2nd shot, not do a 3rd shot
  • In the 1st room after the 1st Navagation Room, you lost 2 frames from doing the Wall Jumps
  • When you forced though the 1st crumble blocks, you jumped (and lost 1 frame), but you didnt afterwards. That confused me
  • You lost a bit of time when you jump in situations like this, which, again, confused me, because you do it, I think, every other time
  • In the room when you get the 2nd Missile Tank, you jumped to late and got blocked by the wall
  • You should keep your luck manupultion less noticeable, like during the 2 Missile Tank Messages
  • You should really do some time waiting things before and during Arachnus, I found the Arachnus fight quite dull because you didn't do that
  • Your last hit on Arachnus should have been as close a possible
  • You didn't get the ability at the 1st frame possible, improve your core-x fight so you can
  • Also try leaving you WIP's after adam

Actually, he gained 3 frames on you in that room according to my calculations, so I wouldn't say if that was worse. Other than that, jumping/falling seems to be of Deign's more unstable spots, as he gains and loses frames on those actions almost equally well. Still, he managed to be 9 frames faster than Dragonfangs at the first missile pack despite all the losses, and that is admirable. Deign, I suggest you to redo the run with P.JBoy's suggestions in mind. That way, not only you will get better times, but that will also motivate Dragonfangs to play more carefully. ;) Until someone finds a sequence break in Fusion (or until the hell freezes over), no-one is going to do the third 0% run, so it should be as good as possible. And please, for the love of all that is holy, next time turn the stereo sound on. %)

I'll go ahead and try that, but I think that I may lose those few frames to luck manipulation anyway for the eye door. I'll start over on a separate file and turn on stereo :P and see if I can gain those frames without losing them to the eye. As for the loss of frames during jumping/falling, I'm a little confused to what you are referring to. Is it when I jump pressing left and right at the same time? Cause that was just for show cause I think it looks cool lol, so that I'm not at all reluctant to get rid of. To P.J. I appreciate your scrutiny, and your critisism is relentless. I love it. Thanks for the tips and I look forward to more of it. P.S. I think Megafrost stopped doing his run, so it would just be me and TDK

Yeah, it seems that the procrastination has finally corrupted Megafrost's soul. Well, more chances for you to get your run published…

Neither would I. Also I can get the missiles tank 7 frames faster than him

Does that include turning on stereo

No, I subtracted the difference which seems to be 4 frames if I'm not mistaken (measured at the start of the third room, where Deign is 4 frames faster than Dragonfangs because of that).

I have to waste 14 frames to make the eye open as fast as possible, and I do this at the closest Adam conversation.

Oh I don't think there's any need to worry about that.

Alright after all is said and done I'm a whopping 22 frames quicker even if you add the 4 frames for changing the sound. After the eye door I was only 2 frames though because of waiting for the quickest time for him to open. However, because of a major improvement on Arachnus I gained that extra 20. I also think the entire thing looks nicer over all. That being said, PJ rip me a new one. =) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1924/DeignFusion.vbm

Huh? Also, I noticed that you made me notice the Luck Manipulation less And I liked that Arachnus fight, except you could of beaten it 1 frame faster In the Memory Viewer go to 030001c4 You'll see that when you shoot the last missile it takes 3 frames to hit Arachnus, when it only needs 2 Other than that I'm pretty sure that was Frame Perfect (minus in-game timer) and that was the best Core-X fight ever EDIT: Active Member w00t
