Well, if you haven't seen it in that messy topic, Heres my first version of my Circle movie. It clocks in around 25 minutes long and was done on Alpha 6. Use the US or European rom, they both work. Any comments or constructive criticism would be appreciated. Main improvements for the final version(whenever a more stable version of emu is out): -Run through the few enemys I jumped over or whipped if possible. -More optimal place to stand after the golem boss is defeated so Hugh doesn't walk as far. -Better wall jumps. If you have any to add or anything else, post it here. Oh and DSS glitching was used. I decided not the do the glitch that takes you straight to Drac. I would be far too weak anyways, so the battle would be very long. Check Here for a explanation of the DSS glitch and others.

Well that was certainly entertaining. At first when i read 25 minutes, i thought it must've been some half-finished preview or something. But as soon as i saw that you could walk faster with that dss setup, it became clear to me :) Still, a few questions 1) Mostly you just walk through enemies and take damage. Though, at soem points you jump over them even though you have enough health. In example, you jump and hit those skeletons 4/5 times in a row, in the room where you have to climb the platforms. Is there a reason why you jump/attack over enmies? Could you get knocked back? 2) I don't know why you didn't stup the walk-fast dss setup after you defeated 'the horse' boss. (it's been way too long since i last played this game) you do it after you obtained the relic though. 3) Why does my VBA lag so much? It runs on app. 50%. When i turn the sound quality to 44hz, the game runs pretty normal (apart from still some lag) on most cases, but the sound is horrible. For another movie i've read you need to pause the game and unpause it after play start, but that didn't work. On a side note, seeing those bosses being defeated by a mere skeleton is far too funny. I can see how this Castlevania is the best Castletroid game for time attacking, with the skeleton setup and the fast-run setup. i look forward to your answers

This reminds me, when I try to watch this movie now, it's screwing up at a place it never did the last few times I watched this. Now it seems to be adding a few extra slides where it shouldn't as you go up the first hill in the catacombs, which causes the rest to desync, and I can't figure out why it's doing this. Any ideas?

McBAIN: About VBA lagging, it probably has to do with settings in the frame skip menu. I've found the best settings are to turn automatic OFF, set frame skip to either 1 or 2, and very importantly, set throttle to "No Throttle"; for some reason it's not the same as "100%" throttle! (I'm working on fixing the throttle and frame skip somewhat, by the way...) When VBA doesn't get enough CPU to pay proper attention to the sound, the sound quality goes to hell. This can also happen if you open any other applications that can play sound before you open VBA. NrgSpoon: Are you watching it with the same version as before? I think some timing things changed between versions. If you are watching it with the same version, it would help me if you can think of what settings you changed between when it worked and now, if any.

Yeah so now that we have a much better version to record on I've been secretly working on my final version. (Well if you frequent IRC it's no secret.) Grab my WIP Here. It plays till the save point after the Necromancer. I also made a small discovery, nothing huge though. If you double jump on the breakable platforms at the right time, it flings you ahead a small bit. Look at the ones in the audience room for a example. It's kinda hard to notice if you don't slow it down and look.

I've come to the conclusion that it has nothing with the frame skip settings, or your computer being to slow that makes VBA lag. I think the timing is just screwed up in some way. Metroid Zero Mission lags like the dickens when you get to many sprites on the screen, but the emulator reports it playing at 100%. This lag is of course not on the actual handheld. I have a pretty new computer 2800 with the barton core. I can do other cpu heavy things while playing and it won't lag. VBA only uses ~30% of my cpu when it's "lagging".

So VBA is incorrectly adding lag to the games? I wonder if that happens to GB games, too.

Those tips you posted, nitsuja, didn't work. But i found out that disabeling "Direct Sound B" removed the highly annoying noise i get. Thanks anyway. And OgreSlayeR, the link doesn't work! ;'(

The link in the first post works but neither of the "v2" links do. Which one is the latest?

This update may be overdue, but the Goat just got slayed. Grab it Here. In case your wondering why I used the save after I beat the Golem I had to or I wouldn't reach the next save with my super speed. MP options aren't a option either. :( On the plus side though, it allowed me to skip the first chapel save which is more out of the way. I also discovered wall jumping isn't as useless as it appears. You'll see one small short cut and one bigger one that cuts the room in half. On to Camilla. :\

Camilla is dead. Right now I'm very close to Hugh. I won't be releasing any more WIP as I am sure I'll be submitting soon :)

Cool, okay :) I like watching a whole vid instead of a few segments each and every time, but it's too tempting :) Finish it quick! ;) And gl.

Very nice run, OgreSlayer. However, there's still 1 thing i don't understand. After the Horse boss you don't use DSS to run fast and get the item. Instead you run normally. Why is that? COuld you not use DSS for that moment, or did you just forget to use it? Cheers!

It was 60 frames faster. I tested it. Using the glitch required opening the menu twice, then opening it twice more once the convo with Hugh started.

One of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a while. GBA games seem to be great sources of superplay movies. /me is hoping for more!

It was indeed a great movie. I love the Castlevania games and especially SotN and this was looked similiar (I haven't played this). I only have one complainment though, I wish you could have beaten the bosses slower ;) This is because they are really big and most often really cool. Other than that it was awesome!

Guild Wars has been consuming my soul, but I haven't forgotten about this. So far It's 587 frames faster than my previous version. I'm not that far in either. I'd upload it, but my host is being stupid.
