Did you use arrows for the other enemies so you have more left over for the wizzrobes?
Hmm...Good idea. It might take a bit to kill 8 bats though.
Michael Fried wrote:
If you did that already, you could try redoing a few rooms and see if that affects the item droppings.
Yeah, I've tried that.

You could also try moving Link around in such a way to try to get all the wizzrobes to come close together so you can kill a lot of them with one bomb.
Yeah, I do that too. Takes 3 hits to kill the blue ones though :( Do you think it would be a good idea to use that trick where you leave the room to turn orange wizrobes blue? How does that work? If I have to this three times in one room it will not save bombs.

If I remember correctly the way this trick works is you first kill the orange wizzrobes, leave the room and come back, and some of the blue wizzrobes will have turned into orange wizzrobes. Edit: By the way, before you try this trick, you should first try killing the keese, like likes with arrows to save your bombs for the wizzrobes and see if that works.

I just remembered that I get bombs after the keese so that won't help. I'll see if I can can get a bomb drop at the end of that battle instead and shoot the keese.

I'm letting people see what I have so far for two reasons: 1. To make sure im not doing anything really stupid 2. I found a few mistakes I want to correct, so Im redoing it anyway. The mistakes that I found are: 1. For some reason, I thought that bombs only gave you two bombs,so I got too many at the beginning 2. I go too far right in the gambling game 3. Went too far up getting the first 30 rupees 4. Got hit a few times where I could have avoided it 5. Could have done the menues a bit faster I think thats it. Anyway, the movie can be found at www.geocities.com/highsummonerbob/zeldaswordless.zip (copy and paste) Before I do the final version, I have a few style questions. 1. Should I get the sword to beat ganon? 2. Should I get heart containers? Edit: Ignore the rerecord count. Its not really that high.

1. I say yes, but only the wooden sword. 2. Not unless you need them for some reason. I didn't like the way you fought the Wizzrobes and Like Likes in the room before Gohma. You made 4 item changes in that one room and I only think 1 would have been necessary. Can't you just fight them all with the wand?

Ok, I just downloaded it and I'm about to watch it, so I'll see if I have any comments on it. Edit: By the way, here are the answers to your questions: 1. I think you should get the wooden sword before going to level 9, but use it only for Ganon. 2. Only get heart containers if they're on your way. Don't lose time to avoid them. However, if getting heart containers somehow wastes time (for example if you'll have to wait for them to fill up), then you should try to avoid them, but only if avoiding them would waste less time than it would save. Edit 2: Another thing I forgot to mention is that now with the 60 fps hack, you can use that to switch items faster. Also, I noticed that sometimes you don't take the shortest path through screens in the overworld. For example, after you get the 30 rupees, do Up+A, and start walking to level 3, you should start out by going left then up instead of up then left because that way you won't have to go around any rocks. Edit 3: I noticed you gambled 3 times. What do you need so many rupees for. Do you plan on using a lot of arrows? Don't forget that you'll be getting 100 rupees from a cave on the way to level 8. Edit 4: Why did you take such a big detour on the way to level 1? Edit 5: I think it would be faster not to do the key glitch in level 1, though you might want to time yourself to see how long it takes to kill 5 gibdos with the wand or bombs. Edit 6: You forgot to get the key from the stalfoses in level 1. Edit 7: You made quite a few extra half Link-length movements in level 1. Edit 8: Never mind, forget what I said about the gambling, I forgot you're getting the arrows much earlier than Sleepz did. Edit 9: You should have gotten the fairy at the end of level 6 so you don't have to wait for the hearts to fill up.

Killing Ganon is a must. Get any sword at any time (whatever's faster) but you should kill him. Otherwise your time attack will end with your death, and that's not cool. Personally, I would avoid heart containers, and I would like to see a lot less damage being taken.

I'm just speaking my mind here, but I would prefer to see artful dodging rather than taking hits. Unless you're using your invincibilty to clear some difficult obstacle, damage doesn't look good. Even if it pushes you forward, what does that really save? One second in a 30 minute movie? Don't get me wrong; you're the guy who's doing all the work here, I'm just talking. If your final product involves a lot of damage but comes out to be super-short, then more power to you. Remember what Abraham Lincoln (or was it P.T. Barnum?) said: "You cannot please all of the people all of the time."

I'd say yes, getting hit by something like a keese in the dungeon secret passage rooms takes only half a heart and saves a little bit of walking time in the dungeons. Same goes with the overworld enemies.

Up+A is used in many of the dungeons so it will restore some of the life lost. I actually find it more exciting when someone beats an entire dungeon with only half a heart left. Some Zelda players watching your video my question why you didn't get hit to save time.
Should I get heart containers?
you're not getting any higher-level swords so you don't need any extra heart containers. But sometimes it's understandable as you may have no choice and it'll spawn right in front of you, sometimes happens when fighting Aquamentus.

Is it faster to use two bombs vs. Aqua in level 1, or do you have the arrows by then (which I'm guessing are faster)? You could try to take a hit from him to boost yourself past the HC's spawn point, but then you'd have to get behind him first, by which time he might already be dead. Maybe if you walked through him during the non-fatal hit(s), when he's flashing? You'd have to hope he didn't fire during that time though... About getting hit to save time: yeah, you're not getting/using any swords this time, so sacrificing sword beams isn't an issue. Might as well use damage as a velocity boost. In defense of NOT getting hit, on the other hand, there is still that molasses-slow Triforce life refill. :/ You'll need to weigh whether or not finishing with one hit left saves more time than is wasted waiting for the Triforce to fill it back up to full. (Unless in situations like level 4, where you have to make two trips to the dungeon, one to get the item and one to kill the boss...might as well ignore all damage the first time through, when you can't yet get the Triforce.)

Uhm, just a small thought I had. When Link is near death, there is an annoying sound that indicates he´s in danger, right? Wouldn´t this be very annoying in a movie? If it "blips" in 30 minutes or so I mean. This was just a thought and else my opinion is that it´s ok to take damage if it saves time. It also looks cooler since it´s more dangerous ;P

What is your plan regarding the Magic Wand? If my memory serves me correctly it's as strong as the White Sword, at least in striking power.

The Magic Wand is mandatory, you can't do a swordless quest without it. You'll need it on enemies like Gleeok.

How soon do you think you might try and get it? I guess I don't know what route you have in mind.

Hmm. I'm thinking that bombs are faster than using the wand. I'm at level 8 right now, and im not sure that im going to use the wand. The wand only hits 1/2 enemies and ill constantly have to switch items. The bombs i have to refil but that never takes very long.

Ah crap. Seems the key problem strikes again. I only have two keys after level 5. I could go back to kill the gidbos to get another key, but thats still not enough. Noo!

Heh. So I found out what the problem is. I forgot you need an extra key to get the wand. >_< Guess I have to go back all the way to level 1 to do the key glitch. Which is what i wanted to do at the beggining until someone told me not to(coughcough micheal fried coughcough). Anyway, heres what I got this time. I started getting sloppy near the end. Oh, and ignore the last 30 seconds. www.geocities.com/highsummonerbob/zeldaswordless.zip Cut and paste. Dont click. Edit: About the keys. Compared to sleepz's route, i missed a key in 6, used an extra key in 6. I also got 2 extra ones in 5 though. So, I should have enough. However, I am missing one. Ill rewatch it to see which one i missed so maybe i dont have to redo all of it.

Which is what i wanted to do at the beggining until someone told me not to You said you missed a key in 6, which key did you miss? Edit: In one of the rooms in level 6, you switched to the arrows to kill the last enemy. Are you sure it wouldn't have been faster to just kill them all with bombs, or just a few arrows first before you switched to bombs so you only need to switch to bombs once?

Yes, but it takes longer to get than doing the key glitch. Edit: I just watched it and I don't see what the problem is. You have enough keys.
