This game has almost no depth, and uses a grand total of three different types of input across the run: Left, Right, and A. A, B and C are all identical, and will always perform the same function: If Barney cannot interact with something, he will blow a kiss. If he can interact with an object, he will interact with it. If he can jump up to a platform, he will jump. Object interaction always takes place before a jump if both are possible simultaneously.
The only forms of optimisation possible in this game are lag reduction and ending inputs early, which I have done where possible. After initially believing it would not be possible to save time on the final stretch of the run, over 40 frames were saved, including releasing Left early and allowing Barney's momentum to carry him to the end of the stage.
All stages begin with Barney in the middle of the stage, and from there the player can freely choose to exit left or right. There are a myriad of objects to pick up and collect, but these invariably waste time in any%. The only object collected throughout the run is the final present in Stage 4, as it removes 8 lag frames and does not contribute to the run time as the extended end-of-level screen takes place after the final input.
Stages 1, 2 and 4 are completed fastest by moving left, and Stage 3 is completed fastest by moving right. Stage 3 also features three turtles the player can ride to move faster, but the third one is not used as the lag generated wastes more time than is saved by the higher movement speed.

Noxxa: Claiming for judgment.
Noxxa: This game is the actual dictionary definition of a trivial game, and this movie doesn't make it any better. No superplay is present in this movie and the movie does not beat real-time records, let alone distinguish itself from them to any notable extent. Rejecting.

They say that your first TAS is always garbage, so I decided to make it for an incredibly simple game. No, this is not a joke. No, this is not faster than the current RTA record.

Do you mean the TAS timing or the RTA timing? If you are saying that if you were to time this run from where RTA starts and finishes, and that time is slower than the RTA WR, then why even bother submitting this?

I'm implying that due to the complete lack of technique in this game, there is almost no timesave possible. I meant "Not faster" in the sense that both this and the RTA record, under RTA timing clock in at 4:22.

If this tas gets the exact same time as RTA can then the TAS is trivial. I haven't seen the TAS since you didn't provide an encode (plus am not at my computer to run it on bizhawk), but what is it that this TAS can offer that RTA doesn't? Edit: It's also come to my attention that the April fools submission of this game:#4643: KDEuserX's Genesis Barney's Hide & Seek Game "Low%" in 00:00.02, Doesn't even have any kind of input at all. The game quite literally plays itself.

Then why submit at all? Considering true any% in TASVideos is no input at all which already exists and is rejected and doesn't differ to any%, 100% would be the recommended goal for this game. For the uninformed. 100% is all children, all presents/items and all animal reunion things. If I remember correctly. Abstained Vote.

Voting no, due to trivial nature of game.

I am very amused by this. J^P's submission may be faster in input length, but it's not faster in in-game time. This submission is fastest IGT, but that means it ties the RTA as well. Great job on a pointless run, especially for optimizing those lag frames. I still can't vote Yes on it, but I applaud you.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

Considering this is any%, the current run is ~5 minutes faster. So I have to vote "no", even though this might be shorter real time. This came up in the Sim City run as well, because the time to last input is only 7 minutes, but then you need to wait another 35 minutes for the game to "win". However, a speed run going for "shortest real time" for Sim City would probably actually be quite different and thus interesting, but this one is not significantly different.
