I think it would be better to do it this way, since it's a few screens shorter and you would only need to get lucky once in the gambling game. 1.L3 2.Up+A 3.Gambling game 1x 4.Blue candle 5.L4 6.L1 Its not a good idea to use the gambling game ever in a speed run. The chances of getting the +50 rupees is 1 in 6. You have to choose the winner out of the 3 choices, but theres also the chance that the +50 rupee choice will not be available when you walk in. It could be the +20, -10, -40 room. Even if you did win the +20 rupees, you would have to walk out and in again to play for more money. Unless you plan on starting over and redoing L3 several times, you should just stick with: 1.L3 2.Up+A 3.L4 4.Up+A 5.30 rupees 6.Blue Candle If you get the heart container on the way to 1, it's better to do this. It's only 1 screen longer and level 6 has a lot of fighting so the magical sword is helpful. 21.Arrows 22.Magical Sword 23.L6 I agree. Take the extra few seconds getting the heart container on the way to 1 so you can have magical sword for both 6 and 9.

Its not a good idea to use the gambling game ever in a speed run. Not even to save 15 seconds? I think it's worth doing level 3 over a few times to be able to take a significantly shorter route.

There's only one room of red darknuts in Lv3 that I am forced to beat, so it may take me around 2 minutes more or less for the dungeon. Add the walking and that's somewhere under 3 mins from power on to gambling room. I don't think I'd mind redoing the run a few times to get the gambling right. I'll record myself this weekend doing Lv3 to see exactly how fast I can do it.

I'm not making a time attack, it's going to be a pure speedrun without savestates or slowdown. Also, I liked the challenges TSA had posted on his forum, but it doesn't seem like he has any going on at the moment. It would be good to be able to compare myself to some actual human runs of the dungeons to see where I stand.

I think what you meant was real NES runs or legit runs. Anyway, have you done the level 1 challenge yet? If I remember correctly, TSA's time was 1:42 from entering the level to touching the triforce, including getting the bow and boomerang and starting with the first sword and 4 bombs.

lol, for a minute there I started to sound like one of those TG people when I said "human runs". I'll try that challenge but I'd also try not getting the boomerang since it won't be used in the speedrun. Would anyone be interested if we did a thread on LoZ challenges on this forum like TSA did on his? I would like doing, for example, a level 3 challenge with 3 heart containers, wooden sword, and bombs.

jail break is one of the most poorly made flash games I've ever seen, and it should be taken off ZHQ. You get hit when nobody is shooting at you, and your bullets never run out. I got 62 just on my second try. The secret involves exploiting a glitch, and once I reveal it there won't be anyone playing it anymore. But the hint is right in the game description: "shoot the prisoner as many times as possible." Thats right, pick a prisoner and keep shooting him repeatedly!

There are quite a few game-breaking glitches in Joust. I beat your score but the game refused to continue OR let me suicide..
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

No glitch in Curveball, I just know how to play it.

That also happened to me one time. If you manage to beat my score again I could improve my score if I wanted to. Joust is an easy game but I just stopped playing because I got bored.

Would you mind sharing any strategies with me? Maybe if I know the best strategies I can smash the Curveball record just like I did to the Jailbreak record :) Edit: What level did you get up to when you got your Curveball score? I'm not sure, but I think I got up to level 9.

Heh, well, the secret is to not let the ball get past your paddle. You have to get to level 9. But I've only gotten the ball past the level 9 player one time.

Would anyone be interested if we did a thread on LoZ challenges on this forum like TSA did on his? How about in addition to the LoZ challenges thread, we also have a SMB3 challenges thread? Would anyone be interested in that? For the past few days, I've been practicing for many hours to get really fast times for each level, and I'd like to see if anyone can beat my times.

I wouldn't mind seeing a smb3 challenge thread, I've been practising purely LoZ past couple weeks so I don't think I'd be much of a challenge for you. I'd still consider participating though.

I see you've become the Target champion. Now 5 members of this forum hold ZHQ arcade titles. :) Edit: maybe this topic should be split, the LoZ thread is getting quite big.
