Ok, here are the times I recorded: Michael's run: Total Dungeon Time(1-8) - 16:28 Total Overworld Time - 11:00 Time from start to Level 9 - 27:28 Bracelet run: Total Dungeon Time(1-8) - ? Total Overworld Time(1-8) - 7:35 (give or take a few seconds for fighting) This route getting the Bracelet is 3:25 faster than Michael's first route. Assuming all the dungeons are done just as fast, the Total estimated time, including level 9, would be 28:01 sec.

There were two routes posted getting the bracelet. Michael's, and mine. Which one did you use? I think mine may be faster, but time it to make sure. 28:01? Damn. The other night when I said "sub-27," I meant "sub-28." I was thinking, "somewhere in the 27th minute." It was 2 a.m., and you ain't quite right at 2 a.m. Let's hope we can get it to be sub-28. You only took account for the overworld time. Remember that level 1 and 3 you use Up+A. He had the magical key, though, so that saved time. Maybe your extra bomb use could make up for it. Hmm, but he had the magical sword for level 9. This is going to be close. Cross your fingers and hope we missed something obvious for a better route, as we always do.

28:01 is the estimated time for: Level 3, raft Up+A Gambling game 4 times (or 5 times, depending on whether you can get enough rupees from enemies) Blue Candle Level 4, ladder Bait (if you do 7 after 2+8, you can also get this just before level 2) Level 1, bow Arrows Power Bracelet Up+A Right 2 screens and warp to near level 5 White sword (it might be faster to get this after level 5) Level 5 Whistle to level 3 Level 7 Up+A Right 2 screens and warp to near level 5 Level 2 Level 8 Up+A Right 2 screens and warp to near level 6 Level 6 Whistle to level 1 Level 9, silver arrows The dungeons will probably be done faster and can be optimized. Right now, I'm timing to see which of the Overworld routes is the fastest. I still have a few more to check. Maybe one of them will be faster still.

Right. You used Michael's bracelet route. Time my bracelet route. Which other routes are you considering? Post them, because maybe they'll be easy to find flawed. Do my bracelet route first, because it's what seems to be shortest to me right now. If you need more details, I'll post some, but by now things should be obvious. Reread my post with the route explained in it.

Ok, Ill try your route next. The other route I was considering to try was 3415, then 2 or 8, 7,6. What do you guys think? Im looking for something that will give me closer to 7:00. Also, in the test I did, I gambled 5 times, but in my actual run, it will most likely be 4.

I think Michael said he's not gonna be able to get on tomorrow. So it's just you and me for a while. Michael proposed 341582769 before we started with the bracelet idea. If you do 3415, doing 8 then 2 is definitely faster than 2 than 8. Still, it's moot to even consider, because the bracelet routes are faster. The walk from 1 to 5 is shortened by warping from 6 to 5. And the walk from 1 to 6 is about the same length as the walk from 7 to 6, so you don't lose anything there. Plus, because you're doing 6 before 5, you don't have to pick up an overworld heart. Simply stated, getting the bracelet cuts the walk to 5 down, and that saves a lot of time. Really, 341658279 is making a lot of sense to me right now...

I guess it's a good thing we're talking in the forum, this way Michael can catch up on everything we discussed. But it is kind of a pain. Do you have AIM, or something?

Ramzi, the route you came up with totals up to 7:29, which is 6 seconds faster than Michael's route. However, I think it would waste more than 6 seconds in lvl6 fighting the blue wiz rooms with wooden sword, especially since they take longer to kill than blue darknuts. I'm gonna keep trying more routes.

Are you sure? I mean, it seems likely... but... 6 whole seconds? There are only 4 blue wizrobes you have to fight in level 6. Bombs kill them also. I think they'd be easier/faster than blue darknuts because there isn't much lag, and you can hit them from any side. Upon further inspection, the orange like-likes will probably take too long.

Okay, I quickly looked it over. I was wondering how my route was only 6 seconds faster than Michael's. It seems that warping, then going to 2, then 8, is faster than walking to 8, then 2. So I've modified my 341658279 route and have come up with 341652879. This route is a hybrid of the best ideas from a bunch of previous routes. I kinda like that. Time this one. It should be significantly faster than 6 seconds. I'm thinking maybe 20 seconds faster. But I'm crazy and stupid, so time it to make sure.

Michael, here are the times for the routes so far: Michael's newest route: 341528769 = 7:35 Ramzi's newest route: 341652879 = 7:23(wooden sword for 6 though) Sleepz newest route: 341562879 = 7:24 My newest route is 11 sec faster than yours and 1 sec slower than Ramzi's, but it gets the white sword for 6. This is the fastest route so far. I came up with this route based on the following: -The fastest way to 6 is walking from 1. (Its faster than 7 to 6, or Bracelet,Up+A,Warp to 6. Plus arrows are on the way and you dont need to pause and wait to snatch the bracelet.) -The fastest way to White Sword and 5 is walking from 1(Its faster than 2 to WS to 5 or Bracelet,Up+A,Warp to 5,WS,5.) -Using the Bracelet,Up+A,Warp to 5, to 2 is faster than walking to 2 or 8 from Start. -Getting the Bracelet is definitely a time saver, but only if go to 6 right after. The estimated total time for this route is 27:50, assuming the total time for the dungeons are the same as Michael's. If you guys can come up with a faster route than this, let me know. I'm gonna play around a bit more with this, but if no faster route than this comes up, then this is the route Ill use for my Time Attack.

So I didn't finish my homework... It would be faster to Up+A after Level 4 to go to Level 1, and get the bait from the bush near level 2 on the way to 8. You have to walk vertical screens, which are shorter than horizontal ones. Also, you only need to hit pause to switch to the candle once, because you need to burn the bush for 8 anyway. I was lieing in bed trying to think of a faster route, and couldn't. And I think this is pretty sweet. The video is going to be somewhere in minute 27. The last verified world record is like 36 minutes, and TSA claims to have done it in 33. Our route is clearly better. If they use it, they could easily beat those records. It shouldn't take them 5 minutes of extra fighting just because they're imperfect. What I like is they boasted that us cheaters would never know the game as well us they do. They're the masters at it. The "masters" couldn't come up with the fastest route. We'll publish the video, and then they'll rush to get the new title. I don't like how secretive they are. We, though, we worked together as a team. Cooperatively, we got things done. Maybe they could have also if they weren't such glory-hogs, never sharing any of their tricks. In a way, they're not deserving of seeing this. Maybe it'll inspire them to share information. It's going to be an amazing video when it's done. I'm giving it the go-ahead to start making it now, but it would be considerate to wait for Michael's opinion also, since he always comes back with something better that we missed. 'Till then, good work guys. It was a blast working with you.

As far as I know, it's Tom Votava's 34:05 run that's the current record-holder. Faster runs have been produced (by TSA and others), but none were submitted / verified.

I'm just working in the last few changes to the route and record the time. Were looking at something around 27:40 when its all done, maybe even a sub-27 if I can get the whistle trick to work, thats if it works at all.

Ok, after making the changes, the total overworld time now comes to 7:12, which makes the total estimated time for the run 27:38. I tried a lot of things to get the whistle to lvl 9 working, but couldn't do it. With all triforce pieces, I tried whistling in all directions from 8 and all the other levels and several different locations. Either it doesn't work, or I'm probably missing something or doing something wrong. I'm satisfied with 27:38 though. My goal now is to get as close as possible to Michael's total dungeon time. Because Michael has a better sword for 4,6, and 9, my dungeons will be slower than his. But because I'm using Up+A and more bombs for 3,5, and 1, those dungeons will be faster. Its gonna be close. However, even if my total dungeon time ends up to be slower than his, I still have 21 seconds allowence to get a sub-28 time. I'm just finishing up counting how many keys and bombs I will be using, then Ill resume my recording. If you guys come up with any changes to improve speed in the mean time, let me know.

It was taken out of the US version of the game. It works in all of the Japanese versions (the FDS one, the Famicom one, and the GBA Mini one).

Check this out: http://www.zhq2.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=350&st=30 Michael's post created today. He posted his bracelet route, which is slower than the others we've come up with. Has he just been not checking this forum, or what?

Mind if I update him and the others by posting the info in the latest posts there?

I dont mind. Here is my final revised route: 1.L3 2.Up+A 3.Gamble x4 4.Blue Candle 5.L4 6.Up+A 7.L1 8.White Sword 9.L5 10.Whistle to L1 11.Arrows 12.Bracelet 13.L6 14.Up+A 15.Warp to near L5 16.L2 17.Meat 18.L8 19.Whistle to L3 20.L7 21.Up+A 22.Whistle to L1 23.L9 I made one last change with the gambling. Also, you will have to collect 30 rupees along the way before you get to the meat shop. This route should get you 27:30 flat if all goes well. This is what's going to be in my video.

Boco, you don't need to do that, I still check this forum, but when I started using my computer today, I went to the ZHQ forum before this forum. Anyway, I just quickly skimmed through the last few pages of this topic and I can't find the latest route you people came up with, so can someone post it again (with all the details, not just the level order)? Also, I forgot to ask you this before, but did you remember to do Up+A after getting the wooden sword? I'm quite sure it saves time. Up+A also saves time if used after level 4. Another thing that saves time that you might already know is that you can stab with your sword and use a bomb at the same time, and that way Link won't slow down as much as if he stabs and then uses the bomb. Another thing that saves time is that if you use the sword while cross water with the ladder, you don't slow down. Anyway, before you do the later levels, I want to do a few tests involving the whistle to see which order is best, and I also have an idea for a trick involving the whistle that might save time, so I'll post more information after I do the tests. Edit: I see you posted the route already, so I'll take a look at it and compare it to mine.
