This run through River City Ransom is on the Advance ("Hard") difficulty. I play as Alex. Throughout the game you must defeat gang members and defeat various bosses to rescue Ryan's girlfriend.
Unlike Sleepz's run through the game, I do not use a trash can. Rather, I use a box, a tire, and a chain. The box and tire are virtually the same (Except the tire can roll away) while the chain is used near the end of the game to defeat the Dragon Twins faster.
I die once after defeating Moose to reach Waterfront mall faster. This speeds up the trip to Blade. I found no other death that saves time.
Also to save time I very rarely grabbed the coins from the bosses. This is mostly because it's not needed. Also I occasionally don't pick up an enemy's coin, because it'll vanish before I defeat all the gang members, so I won't have to wait near the body when I could be attacking others.
This run is intended to be in a different category than Sleepz's Novice mode run.

I've decided this can be improved to be a *lot* better.

I had to honestly vote Meh for this time around... BUT Beofre I explain, I must honestly admit, it was ALMOST a yes due to the entertainment value alone! You honestly put effort into trying to mix things up, you did the pogo dance on 1 foot tactic... BACKWARDS... which made me laugh.. heck the fight in R.C.H. where Bart does a Left/Right freakout as he collapses was very funny! But... here's why it made Meh... 1. I do understand that Advanced makes enemies more likely to block, but for the most part, you DID work around that.. but there was too much blocking overall. A few is understandable if it would mean you get a hit in quicker then you would just doing something else to manipulate luck and get a hit without missing... but I think there was more chance to avoid blockng. 2. There was a minor pause and stutter in the Factory the first time around, and not due to how you land either.. and a bit of extra running around where the possibility of enemy manipulation may have saved a bit more time... it was hefty run outside of R.C.H. and I wonder if you couldn't have manipulated it so the enemy came closer to you and the gates where the boss fight took place. Ditto with the fight against Otis.. was there not a way to toss and fight closer to the doors as you went along? I mean granted you have to run all the way back, but in principle then, could the same not be done with Otis and some weapon throwing..? 3. The Randy and Andy fight... could you not have manipulated it so they didn't block as often? I know this falls under #1, but you had a VERY NICE Synchronization going on at one point and they actually looked as if one! To be able to kill them both simultaneously without a block would not only have saved a few seconds, but looked even cooler too! [Even though you chained them to death, it was entertaining during the synchro part] Other then that, I was honestly quite impressed with your run. It looks a helluva lot more solid then my first ever submission where I didn't even know about frame advance ^^;; I'd dare say with a bit of tweakng, and leaving as much of this entertanment in as possible, this could be done under 10m30s... maybe... MAYBE... 10 mins... the using death as a shortcut was a smart idea though :) Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Hmm... it is at a higher difficulty than Sleepz's run, but it's obvious when watching it that it could be faster (I could be wrong but it really looks like it), and the tactics used are much less entertaining and don't look as perfectly executed (getting hit by something you threw looks especially bad, even if it doesn't waste time, and a lot of the time spent waiting could probably have been used for starting up a showy attack or something).

Well I thought it added entertainment to see him getting the odd hit.. kinda like a drunken fighting style, except a punch could go flying over his crouched form.. ^^;; And there's not many showy attacks that could be done... so could you elaborate so we'll know exactly what you mean? When one of them is blocking and I'm still attacking, the one that you cannot see ("Behind" the other) is getting hit. Andy and Randy don't have identical stats, so despite what I may try, one will eventually end up falling before the other, breaking the synchro. Personally, I kept the self-hitting in because it seemed funny to me. Here is Alex smashing all these guys when suddenly a stray box sends him reeling. I doubt they wasted too much time.

Oh, well if you watch Sleepz's run, there's a lot of stuff done purely for entertainment that wasn't done here... throwing something and jumping off a wall, dancing on top of the weapon, juggling weapons off the wall as they bounce back and forth alternating hitting the enemy very rapidly, tricking enemies into thwacking each other as you go by, etc. If the waits are too short, even just backing up a bit so it looks like you have more momentum when attacking might look better. I liked how you sometimes pick up guys and use them as weapons though, but when they take a long time to die afterward it seems awkward.

I voted YES but I don't think this should replace Sleepz' hilarious run.

Actually, I didn't intend for it to replace Sleepz's run. I was intending for it to be a different category.

Since you aimed for fastest time, I voted Meh. Like Flewin said, parry is the challenge in the Advanced mode. ---- I was not good at this game, all gang members had the same hp or not ? I thought they had the same settings.
Mr. and Mrs. Rerecord: Why do we fall ? So that we might better learn to pick ourselves up.
