I think this TAS is enough short to do not be boring and rejected. I made this TAS few months ago and it beats the World Record by 5 seconds : https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/boxing/atari-2600-vcs

Game presentation

You are a boxer and your goal is to win the round against an opponent. To punch the opponent, one of your boxing gloves has to be in the front of the face of your opponent (the game take the better one by itself). The game finish when one boxer has a 100 score or when the time is finished.

Goals

  • BizHawk 2.2.2
  • fastest In-game time and TAS time (same result)
  • Genre: Sport

Mechanics

When you hit a long punch, your score is incremented by 1. When you are closer, your score is incremented by 2. The boxer hitten will move a little bit in the opposite direction of your punch so the best strat is to punch with the other hand and if necessary, move a little bit in the opposite direction of the opponent

Adresses

  • 20 : X position
  • 22 : Y position
  • 12 : your score

Thanks

Thanks to Greg Degeneffe because he made me do research about Activision's Atari 2600's games.

feos: The game is far from trivial, the run is faster than human records, the difficulty settings are correct, the ending (KO) is reached, everything in this run is legit. Game-play is as simplistic as most A2600 games, so even when feedback is somewhat above average, the rating will still be low. Accepting to Vault.

This is a good game choice! Though I would have preferred to see it played on Expert Skill.

Hum oups, I didn't figured there were an Expert Skill... I know I have to set the opponent to B for novice, he will have a normal speed and I have to put me to A for expert to be slow down a bit. What is the default setting "True" on BizHawk, is it A or B ? Since I think I have to redo this movie because of this mistake, I would like to try putting some entertainments with useless moves even if I know It'll go to Vault.

It's 12 seconds...At that length the repetition is humorous enough to not be tedious. Yes vote.

I tried to put my movie in Expert mode. I lose 1 second TAS time and In-Game Time, do I cancel it to put it in Expert Skill? I ask to community and judges.

This is one of those games where the added difficulty isn't really going to add any worthwhile new content to the video. I think the easy difficulty is fine. The speed differences aren't going to be that notable for a 1 second (slower) difference in final run times.

Still post the movie made on Expert to userfiles. There's very little info about this game on the internet, so such a demo will help to understand it better.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Here it is : http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/47200916892873646 I'm sure it can be improved but the opponent move back before we can punch him with a 2 points hit, after you are too slow to punch him again as fast as the game allows us to so time lost again. If this run needs to be in Expert mode, I'll redo it and try everything to improve this test.

After having a look at the manual, difficulty switches are considered fair play, and for a Vault TAS we only need to decide what we prefer, speed or difficulty. Slowing down the player doesn't seem to make it reasonably more difficult to TAS, but just increases the run length, right? And you can't increase the opponent's speed? Sounds like the current run is already fine.

It's not more difficult to TAS just slower and the opponent is at his max speed on this run yes. Maybe I could be more understandable when I edited the submission text on that point after looking Expert mode because I red the manual too...
