Hello, I saw that your previous TAS on this game which has been rejected has been made on BizHawk 1.9.4, Why did you use Snes9x 1.55 here ? Why did you not use BSNES ? even if it's a outdated release because it's always better than snes9x. I don't know how many time you worked on it but I'm sure it's very long, so I won't take more time about it. I don't know what to think about your edit on your temp encode videos : pausing in the middle of the action to be warned about something crazy and have a standard TASing move.... And the way you turned your previous rejected submissions as a victim and after saying you improved your way of work with YOUR masterpiece ( which is great ! ). After, saying that will be awesome : for you maybe but not for everybody ! And your hidden message in the first video just before your intro video : "Me dedico mas a hacer el video que el TAS".... translated with google traduction : "I dedicate myself more to making the video than the TAS" (maybe it's right with a 2587 rerecords count improvment of your first movie on this game, I don't know). I don't know what thinking about all of it. I didn't watch all videos so I'll and voting just after without thinking about no TAS contents.

"Me dedico mas a hacer el video que el TAS" This only was a little joke. Editing a video took 1-2 hours, but only 1 cup was almost 4-8 hours in total. And this I did not want to say before, but I see that I have no choice I can only do the TAS on a very old PC and this one can not stand the bizhawk. Snes9x is my only viable option. And I think you should realize that, at least in this, there are many twists that were made in perfect frame (although it does not seem so) so that the car will not touch the grass. And I started to edit the video for those who do not get involved in this forum for example, and just want to watch the video (so it's a little more enjoyable)

my pc doesn't run bizhawk either, but you should try lsnes, it's pretty good too.
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Right. The encode provided is annoying to watch especially with the edits from the author injected in it. So I just straight watched it in emulator. And then we have this:
NO 4th Gear Abuse
You should probably expand on what 4th Gear Abuse is, cause not using something that's potentially major for something long can be a make or break this (like how you chose not to race in Top Gear 3000). TAS is not entertaining at all. Opening input is scattered with mashing, menu input seems correct. So like 2 to 5 frames wrong in opening input but I'm comparing Hawk to Snes9x (corrected to first visible logo).

Ok, I supposed it was so I believe you, and I know now you worked a lot on it.

Ok, I understand so don't worry

I realized it but I didn't speak about it.

In my opinion, this edit just depreciate your work on the TAS, but it's just my opinion. Your intro video should be the only thing to keep for me.

Voting no for not having a TV Tropes page Okay, this run is amazing. Too bad the glitch can't be performed by player 2. Yes vote and to obsolete [113] SNES Top Gear "one track" by Phil in 03:51.17.

Spikestuff "You should probably expand on what 4th Gear Abuse is" Is when you are using the 4th gear all the time, only not in +230 kph I use the 4th gear only <220 kph (sometimes) and some uphill, not more. I'm not "abusing" like the speedrun.

That was fun to watch. Thanks for doing this. Re: 4th Gear Abuse, would it make the run any faster if you did “abuse” the 4th gear?

yes, because, just as with the nitro I push the other player, with the 4th gear abuse I can push the player 2 with the player 1 (because it can use the 4th gear in a curve), and with the 4th gear you can accel up to 230 kph in a plain, but with 5th gear, only can accel up to 220 kph in a plain.

Hmm... In that case, the "No 4th gear abuse" objective seems rather arbitrary. It's much more interesting, IMO, to see the fastest a TAS can achieve, instead of it limiting itself. In fact, the only time a TAS should be limited is if it increases entertainment value (which I can't see that being the case here). I still think this run is worth accepting as is, but any future run that does use the 4th gear to its advantage should obsolete this run.

nice preview video editor :) about run, I see it's sill not perfect (or maybe I'm wrong). - At location NewYork U.S.A, at start race, player 2 have start run too slow compare to player 1. - At location San Francisco U.S.A, you let 2 cars get too much fuel for nothing, waste time - And at some points you have let player cars run out of road, mean speed will slow down a little. Sorry I just watch only a your clip, don't know how about other I'll vote after have some your explains

so I liked the run however im curious about this 4th gear glitch if it would make the run faster then why truthfully resist using the glitch to make the run faster, I honestly want to vote yes however until there is more details added on the run I will abstain from voting at this time mainly due to lack of details given, once there is some details on glitches and a real reason as to why you didn't use a glitch that from what im hearing so far in other posts could of made the run faster at this time im a meh even tho I really love this title

Ok first some details: In the first two tracks you can notice that the two players move exactly the same, and this is because, it was the trial version, but when I tried another version with the two asymmetric players (in the first two tracks) the opponents lined up different way and I would have inevitably crashed or slowed down, so the trial version stayed there. xxNKxx "At location NewYork U.S.A, at start race, player 2 have start run too slow compare to player 1." I took advantage of that when I made the flag pole glitch to push the player 1, but I could not push both players, so if I had pushed or not, the result would be the same, because to finish the race both players have to finish. xxNKxx "At location San Francisco U.S.A, you let 2 cars get too much fuel for nothing, waste time" In fact, you have to watch the run in Snes9x, this part was corrected, but i didn't want to encode it again. xxNKxx "And at some points you have let player cars run out of road, mean speed will slow down a little." For the flag pole glitch or the 1st gear (at the end of some tracks), no time is lost at all, it is done for entertainment purposes. And there are some sectors, like the final track or Florence, Italy, where it was necessary.

the trick would make a difference, but not so great, since I would have to combine it with the nitro sharing, and it would decompensate with the extra time that could happen in the pits (that's what I think). In addition, this route is more familiar with casual players.

oh, why you let everyone watch a preview video haven't same result with your run? why you didn't think have pepole like as me lazy check your run in emulator? Sorry I don't want make vote for your run at this time, I'm scare my vote will be silly by what I had seen

Sorry, but that track was the only track that was modified without uploading it to youtube. Then, I will upload the new modified track to youtube.

thanks your new preview video, it's enough. the trick use car touch other car for boost speed is interesting. But I see the run still need optimize more than. My english isn't good for say everything, but there are some things like this: - in most race games, if you run zic zac in straight line road you can't get perfect pixels (I mean optimize actions) - 2 players should do same actions for get best optimize actions. Sometime I see, example, player 1 move to right but player 2 move to left - the trick use car touch other car, I see have something not ok (sorry I didn't test for know reason): Player 1 touch player 2 for boost speed => player 1 must slow down after touch => player 2 must faster player 1 after got touch. But why player 1 can touch player 2 multi times? => is player 2 slow down by some reason? or player 1 can boost speed by itself? (of course I don't say about your 4th Gear Abuse) After all, I'll vote Meh for you run

xxNKxx "2 players should do same actions for get best optimize actions. Sometime I see, example, player 1 move to right but player 2 move to left" Really not xxNKxx "the trick use car touch other car, I see have something not ok (sorry I didn't test for know reason): Player 1 touch player 2 for boost speed => player 1 must slow down after touch => player 2 must faster player 1 after got touch. But why player 1 can touch player 2 multi times? => is player 2 slow down by some reason? or player 1 can boost speed by itself?" You have to consider that I'm using a single nitro per lap, which speeds up both cars, which means that I accelerate both cars in the race 4 times, not 2 times if not share the nitro

You're losing several in-game seconds to the run published 14 years ago (on the Bordeaux track). How is it possible, given that run uses the same difficulty? It only uses one car, and starts from the first place, but from what I'm observing so far it's just plain faster. [113] SNES Top Gear "one track" by Phil in 03:51.17
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

... ... ... ... ... Maybe if it's correct, it may be somewhat un-optimized, but, Phil started the race first, and then he was pushed (but I did not have that advantage), making such a big comparison does not seem so right. (considering that none started with nitro, besides that right on that track, the transition of the out of fuel saved frames at the expense of game time)

Look at the startup part. None of you 2 is pushes, both are driving on a straight line. I'll be testing this track in your conditions. The problem is, the movie rules say that a speed-oriented movie must beat all existing records. You don't seem to have checked this record. Explanation of gear techniques from GameFAQs, for the reference (inluding the 4th gear tips): Anyway, here's the legendary "Red Car Top Gear 4th Gear Trick" to shed extra seconds off your race time in the Cannibal (Red Car) This is not a glitch and is not a cheat- it is smart driving. In my opinion, this car was designed to run in 4th gear beyond what automatic transmission does for it. Automatic transmission for the Red Car is **bad**, we'll leave it at that. To be a true speed-master of the track, drive the red car in manual transmission. Here's the trick- Watch your speedometer, and let it run in 4th gear all the way up to around 215-225 Km/h (to figure out MPH for this equivalent, divide the Km/h by 1.6-- but I always drive in Km/h since it's a lot more accurate.) Being in 4th gear up to around this speed will make your red car accelerate MUCH faster than if you had shifted earlier to 5th gear. It is also advised that you downshift to 3rd gear and then 4th for awhile if you hit an opposing car. When going downhill, if your speed is below 220 Km/h, throw it into 4th gear. Memorize which sections of each tracks have decent downhill runs, and throw it into 4th gear when going down them for some extra speed. Your car should hit around 230 km/h or so, and once it gets around to that speed, shift to 5th gear to build further speed, as well as save your fuel (running at higher revs in lower gears burns more fuel.) When using a nitro, ALWAYS have the car in 5th gear, unless your speed is below 220 km/h from hitting a car or something. If that happens, shift down to 4th gear, and throw it back into 5th gear once you hit around 220-230 km/h, to make your nitro boost maximize its power, as well as conserving fuel. In short, through using gears with the red car- 1st Gear- Shift up at the start of the race as soon as your tach fills to about halfway (audio cue also helps a good bit) 2nd Gear- Same as the first gear, shift up ASAP, you don't need to stay in this gear for long. **3rd Gear- Should only be used if your speed is below 160 km/h. This will get you up to speed quicker. Shift up as soon as you hit 185-190-ish. ***4th Gear- The best gear to accelerate (gain speed) in. Hit it to 4th gear when you are above 190, and keep it in 4th until you hit around 215-225. Use this gear when going downhill if your speed is below 225. Once you get above 230 when going downhill, shift to 5th to get more speed and save fuel. On long endurance races (pit stop races), you shouldn't run it in 4th gear long (try to use it only on downhill stretches-- like the end part of Tokyo, for example), so use 5th when around 215 or so to conserve your fuel. On 3-4 lap "sprint" races, this really doesn't matter. Drive in 4th as much as you need to, sprint races are easy to win in the red car. You should not run out of fuel in any of them except Stonehenge, so drive as aggressively as you want. When using the red car, consider "sprint" races an easy 20 points. ***5th Gear- 5th gear should be used when your car hits around 215-225 km/h in speed, or, of course, when you are using a nitro. The 5th gear saves your car fuel and is the "holding speed" gear. If you're smart, you can actually hold speeds of 240-250 km/h in 5th gear for a long time.

If you could make a better run with that trick, you should use that trick.

Can't you just keep the other player behind so you don't have to bump each other all the time? In this 1-player test I reach the end of Paris in 6680 frames (01:51.36 in-game time), while you reach it in 6963 frames (01:56.08). I don't know why do you call it "abuse", it's just how the game engine works: the red car accelerates faster while on the 4th gear, it is optimal to use it, avoiding this technique is sloppy play. I'll turn this into a 2-player test for the sake of experiment. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/47780402692011774
