Reviewing the first and second place teams of DTC6, the definition of how we should end things would have meant one team winning over the other. Going by input length, the winning team keeps its position. Going by time to credits, the second place would have won, even if the winning team fought the boss normally. It was a pretty close match. At least for this game, there doesn't appear to be any significant difference. In any case, it might be a good time to decide which type of ending to standardize for later DTCs.

It's just stupid to suggest that the credits screen or whatever else other than input length should be used to determine the winner.

I would prefer fastest credits because I don't think we want a case of 2 minutes of waiting at the end boss until he suicides (= River City Ransom).

OK. Super boring game though. Everytime I tried to play I'd feel sleepy or could not see any innovative way to improve anything so the run was mostly done by FatRatKnight and Exonym.

Interesting that there is clear correlation between length of team name and movie length.
I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Current projects: NES: Tetris "fastest 999999" (improvement, with r57shell) Genesis: Adventures of Batman & Robin (with Truncated); Pocahontas; Comix Zone (improvement); Mickey Mania (improvement); RoboCop versus The Terminator (improvement); Gargoyles (with feos)

If only there was a character that is shorter than blank, then we could name our team that and win. (Congrats on the winning team though)

We save frames on name entry. In another contest, we've even saved frames on character select, allowing the "RNG" to select part of our team for us. Perhaps next year, we'll double our team name length as a handicap. Now I just need to recall every trick we did on our movie so everyone else gets to know what we did.

There was one trick I wanted to include in the run but didn't ultimately make it, due to wanting to get the rest of the run finished in time or just due to being burned out a bit on the game. The stage 7 boss is on a global timer that determines when it's head will extend upwards. I forget what exactly the timer was, but basically if it all lines up perfectly the boss could receive the final hit while it's head is in transition. This causes the boss's dead sprite to shoot off the top of the screen instantly meaning the stage ends. Our file just happened to line up to where we were literally a few frames shy of being able to get it. If our file was improved by even a slight bit anywhere before that point, it should be possible. Just wanted to point out this in case anyone didn't know the trick existed.
Current thoughts: Hachiemon (J) for GBA.

yeah, internally we were named "Team Winner" for obvious reasons. Maybe next year we actually use that name just to show you guys your place.

Congratulations to every team and specially to team 4, your movie was amazing! Now, who will be in charge of splicing together each best section to create the submission? I believe almost everything is already in Team 4 movie, but there might be some places where someone else was faster. I didn't compare the framecounts but I think we were faster in the penultimate boss, for instance. I'd like to help with this splicing as they take a lot of work, but I'll choose to focus on other projects for now. It was really fun to participate in this contest and to have the experience of TASing something different, though I was inactive for most of the time and I apologize to my for that (I wasn't used to TASing with a deadline). Looking forward to the next edition :)

I apologize for everyone that was looking forward for our team's movie. Sadly, real life problems got in the way... Anyway, I'd like to partake to the creation of the final movie file to submit to the site, if there is any help needed.
