Well, this morning I practiced a bunch of segments of the game and learned some new strategies, but I'll just have to see if I can pull them off all in one run. (gee I hope they add up to three and a half minutes of improvement)

i would like some competition but with some different game, maybe battletoads :P heh... i somehow suck at megaman. i tried to play megaman 3 these days and got really bored at dying and have to go all the way back. maybe i wasnt made for this game.

Great job Sleepz. If I may make a suggestion, it's a lot easier to fight Wily with the Thunder Beam. If nothing else, the length of the beam allows for easier SELECT button manipulation of the damage.

Ok well.. I really disagree with starting off with fireman. And im going to prove why whenever i get my next run working. In fireman/Bombman level, it really helps if you have Ice/Magnet Beam. Im not too worried about not having the bombs to kill gutsman. but i know it can be done faster by starting off with Gutsman. But yeah.. since you hold the best timeing.. good job so far. As to what FODA said.. a Battletoads competition. i would be happy sto see someone BEAT the nes/snes battletoads with no rerecords.. Ive done the snes without loseing a life, and actually finishing with 8 lives. that was pretty cool... on the real system and everything (so i couldn't slow it down) I think Sucess of competeing the first battletoads is enough satisfaction..

Yeah, I'm finding the Thunder Beam to be really handy in BombMan's stage, and the Ice Slasher can be used for some nice shortcuts in FireMan's stage--but only if you get the timing right.

yeah.. I got the gutsman level right. I sometimes mess up in the cutsman level(rarely). rarely in the elecman. ice man is good. fireman is comming along. bombman is comming. Wily.. is where i lose all my time. I cant do anything on those stages.. havent played them anough. i used to play this game before all the ways till i defeated bombman and quit.. cant remember why, why thats what i did. now i regret it.

Yeah, the Dr. Wily stages are full of danger. I wish they could move all the dangerous stuff to the beginning...

Hmm. I wonder if there's any way to shoot those damned bombs in Bomb Man's stage out of the sky. I'm having a really hard time with that stage. Latest run is sub-26 minutes, though...

Do you mean the ones that fly up and then burst into four charges? They're easy to dodge if you wait a second. Running through them, however, is very hard yes. Maybe they can be frozen with the Ice Slasher?

It should be possible with some well-placed Magnet Beams--they're pretty high, so it's impossible to walk on the beams at some point. I'll try Ice Slasher (those weapons have names?)

I recall the ice doesn't work at the bombs...

I got 26:16 then........ but.. im so mad. BECAUSE: 1: At the beginning of the Elecman stage, i dropped my controller. thats 4 seconds gone. 2: at the end of Elecman stage, climbing up the ladders, i get hit and fall. another 5 seconds. 3: When i picked the wily level, I'm 1000 frames behind sleepz(16 seconds.) 4: in the wily stages, the 3rd one. I do not know how to glitch the Gutsman move to Manipulate the rocks to throw. so i have to use Elec attack. 5: Using that Elec attack. I had NONE left for the Iceman fight in wily level 4. 6: I died trying to beat that iceman. 7: I had to use Bombs to kill iceman the second time. 8: I miss Gutsman with the first bomb attack in wily level 4. If i didn't do all this wrong, i would have been maybe only 5 seconds behind sleepz............. I hate it.

I was doing well at my last attempt, but I forgot to save enough Magnet Beam for that last flippy platform gap, so I hit the spikes and stopped the movie. I had 23:41 at the time, so I probably would have been only a minute over Sleepz's time at the most, and I haven't even watched his movie for new tricks yet. I think I'll try that now.

Well, it should take 26 minutes to produce a 26 minute movie, shouldn't it?

Oh, I really wanted to succeed before I posted the movie... Well, if I don't get another successful run done tonight, I'll put up the almost-finished one.

My plan might have been better, but I guess Sleepz's technique was still better, because I could only manage a 25:00 even. http://www.geocities.com/ryan_ferneau/mega2.zip

I just managed a... 48 minute run. You can see if it you really want to, but it's not worth your time. I just played on despite dying and taking 4-5 continues. It was my first try at the Wily levels since I had always died and started over. I hate, hate, hate, hate the stupid magnet beam.

Well, after watching Sleepz and BoMF's videos and laughing at some of their mistakes, I figured I'd attempt this too, and make some mistakes of my own (=P): http://www.filespace.org/4matsy/How4matsyPlaysRockman.fcm Got 25:03, I did. Not bad for a first try, eh? ;)

Me, too, when it's not being abused with rerecording. =P You can actually pretty clearly see 3 or 4 places in my run where I screwed up with it. Royally, in one case...

Why is everyone forgetting the same extra jump in Bombmans stage when going upwards two ladders? The screen where cannonballs come in from the right and there are spikes to the left. By the way 4matsy... you didn't use any of the up-down tricks. Do you still have the old version of FCEU? I did 36 min now. Hooray. No continues, but still not anyway near good.

I'm right behind you, Sleepz, with 24:58. Even though I said I'd stop upon getting a sub-25 minutes time, I'm gonna continue anyway, because I can do much better than this one. :) EDIT: also, if you're out of rocks in Wily 3 against the boss, you're better off using Rockman Buster (the default weapon) against him.

Yeah, this is mean. You said there was still lots of room for improvement when you got the best time and when you used a bad order to do it.

I've raised the bar. I've got it down to 24:32 now (minus a few seconds because I ended the movie pretty late after dealing the final blow)... it's the highest tier run as far as I know because of the frequent usage of the Magnet Beam. It uses Morimoto's route. If Sleepz (or anyone else, for that matter) manages to beat this, I'll try again. Uploading, editing post in a sec... :) EDIT: here it is. And here's an AVI file. EDIT: I didn't time this perfectly, but the time at which I deliver the final blow to Wily seems to be 24:24 (counting from the AVI file).
