Post subject: Can't load rom after messing with RAM. Persists across roms!

Basically I am trying to make cheat codes for Star Fox 64 and was poking around at the ram to find out what does what and now my rom for the game (even a different copy of the game) won't load right at all. It was running slow and was glitching out so I decided to hard reset it which usually works however this time it loaded up with a black screen and wouldn't respond. I am able to get into the game by loading a save state however it is slow and glitchy for those too and the title screen is messed up. As far as I can tell other games work fine but Star Fox 64 no matter what copy of the game I use is corrupted. Is there something I can do to be able to load the game again? Is there some save file or something I can delete? I have deleted pretty much everything related to the game I could find but I am stumped.

Late, but did you freeze any values in RAM? If you did, it gets added to the cheats list for the game.
