This is improvement of old movie by 2146 frames. The frames are saved at jungle stage by using new route (falling down instead of going right)
fun fact: this movie syncs on mesen

ThunderAxe31: Judging.
ThunderAxe31: Movie file replaced for a more accurate re-record count.
ThunderAxe31: Un-claiming.
feos: Judging...
feos: The part of this run that's new and saves so much time isn't too optimal, as seen in this movie that spawns the corn boss 16 frames faster due to slight movement tweaks.
However the current publication belongs to Vault, and this movie is going there too. And there is a Vault clause that allows some sub-optimality if a new skip has been discovered, because speedrun records are the main purpose of Vault:
  • "In rare cases, there will be a sloppier movie that is faster than a more optimized movie due to the use of a major skip discovery. In this case, the faster of the two movies is preferred."
I double-checked with admins that the clause is accurate and I understand it correctly, hence I'm relying on it here.
MESHUGGAH displayed interest in improving this submission, but I tried contacting him and couldn't.
Dacicus: Processing...
feos: Fixed ROM hash in the movie.

I want to quickly point out that the rerecord count is not supposed to be that high, it is a bug in 2.3.2 where the count will skyrocket for some reason. https://github.com/TASVideos/BizHawk/issues/1605

Shall we replace the rerecount count, then? Is there an approximate value that you think could be relatively accurate?
my personal page - my YouTube channel - my GitHub - my Discord: thunderaxe31 <Masterjun> if you look at the "NES" in a weird angle, it actually clearly says "GBA"

old tas has 42974 and i add ~500 rerecords so 43500 should be ok

Just wanted to say I didn't started on working on this yet, but RTA runner WhiteHat94 already messaged me about this route improvement. Nor discussed anything with AIVV73. (More details about route improvement: instead of going through the end of the first section, you can drop down to a stone and skip 1 note and a lot of walking.) Potential improvements with the new route I see after comparing the RTA run and this submission (details in my previous submission "impossible improvements"): - Improve bridge section: find best level orders and minimize losses from inoptimal enemy positions + horizontal vine boost + rock jump before bridge section (Potential saves: 0~30 + 1~2 + 1~2) - Make sure no other skips remain undiscovered.

You're losing 5 frames after the skip in level 2, up to level 3 start. I tried basic lag reduction and saved 16 frames up to the boss spawn. Branch 4 is when you spawn the boss, branch 5 is when I do.

Thank you for testing optimality. I intend to work on this TAS on the next week, basically doing those tasks what I wrote in my previous post in this thread.
