If you get World 0-1 on startup, then you have a bad ROM dump of Super Mario Bros. You need to find a new ROM. EDIT: Look for a ROM name that has a "[!]" identifier, which marks it as a verified good ROM (e.g. "Super Mario Bros. (JU) [!].nes"). Avoid ROMs with identifiers like "[p1]", which denote pirated ROMs.
