Anyone going for this? I know it's a bit sluggish game, but I really would like to see it played through with good boss techs.. I think it has the best music in Castlevania games ever... yeah... Praying Hands and New Messiah... *drool*

I did a test a while back just for kicks..doubt I will continue though. If your interested grab it Here. Should work on Alpha 4. It's only the first stage and I end the level with too many hearts. :|

Out of all three GB CV games, this one strangely seemed to be the fastest. I dunno if Solieyu just had a bug up his butt about killing the good Count or what, but... Good luck to anyone attempting ANY of the Castlevania games. Things move slower than crap. The whip upgrades are nice, though, but good luck keeping the things. I've never taken so many cheap shots in all my life. Bleh.

I did a quick run testing things and got it just under 30mins. I ran it with 100% speed and left over tons of hearts after each stage. http://www.geocities.com/mazzeneko/castle2brv1.zip It has lots of stuff that I must do better but if people are intrested enough I can make a better one. Slow game tho. The ending and credits are horrible. *edit* Got a time 2 minutes better than this and is still improveable. Still trying.. *mumble* *edit again* Dunno if anyone ever sees this topic but.. http://www.geocities.com/mazzeneko/Castlevania2GBstage1.zip It's stage 1 (Crystal Castle) done quick.. Only thing that could be improveable is to get the two jellyfish monsters to stay in the ceiling long enough to get past em. I have once seen that happen but I don't know what causes it. Some progress again. The four castles are now down with a time of 16:39. Now dracula's castle.

A new version is done http://www.geocities.com/mazzeneko/Castlevania2BRV3.zip It still has couple things to fix, but what do you think? It's a slow game so not much perfection needed. Couple times I needed to use Frame Advance, but usually ran with 50% or 25% speed. *edit* It's ran with Castlevania 2 - Belmont's Revenge (U) [!]

This comment is based upon your old run (BRV1) and haven't watched your BRV3 yet, so I don't know if you've corrected this or not. The major problem with your run is heart management. You collect WAAAAAAAY too many hearts and this eats up time in the end of the level. Every level should end with ZERO hearts. If this is not possible, then as few as possible. Minor problems: Dracula - Last time you went the wrong direction at start. Take advantage of that you know where he's going. Screw up? Redo it. Also, end the movie sooner. Hit management was a bit weak too. You CAN get throttled in the direction you need, you proved it yourself. Work it better. Jump less. There's a number of times where your jumping stops you for a moment before you can continue. This will come into affect with the heart management issue. Overall not bad, but much to improve yet.

I have fixed that in Version 3. I only leave one heart in the Dracula Castle 2

Dracula has been fixed.

In version 3 I take as many hits as possible to make it faster. You should watch it.

In version 3 I jump less, and when I jump I try to make my jumps not to lose frames, when it's possible.

Thanks. Version 3 is improved by 3 minutes.

I'll take a look at the new version and give my comments afterwards. Good to see that you have stated that you fixed things I was complaining about. ^^;;

Ok, I got to watch your v3. 1000 DEGREES OF BETTER. Much better heart management, much better hit management, better dracula fight. There's one minor thing to look at - improve the 2nd Dracula Castle boss fight. There's plenty of invincibility time (from what I see) so you could burn off that last heart hitting him with a well timed axe. See if you can be more aggressive yet. And is there only the one stinking meat in the game? What kinda Castlevania game is this? ^^;;

Yeah.. that boss is damn nasty to hit. I have to jump so I hit the boss if I'm lower platform than he is. IF I do that he'll whip the hell out of me doing so. The boss has a evil habit of start whipping and not stopping until I back away so it was faster to hit him in the back (and less painful too). That was the fastest way I managed to kill him. I hate when I left that one axe, gotta at least use that.

jumping right through the wall in the rock-castle (time left:487); it would have saved ten sec. i suppose. Or is this 'forbidden' (i think the possibility to do so is intended and not a glitch)? regards kuu

Hmm, gotta look into that. Perhaps when I got time I'll fix the bugs and post my run. Just got into engineering school..
