Comments

This game was more luck depending than i expected when i started. And my motivation went to the floor when i started to work, but it's finally finished.
This file ends the inputs before the submitted movie, but still finishes the game

Stage by stage comments

Easy loop

I need to discover better methods of CPU manipulation to improve weightlifting. (At this point it's obvious i haven't any experience with luck manipulation)
In saucer thorow, i had to recharge to the max because in the last lap the power was not enough, literally the max distance reachable was 249 and the minimum to qualify is 250.
Obstacle course generates a lot of lag, it was difficult to reduce the lag frames as much as i could

Medium loop

In Freestyle Skiing the CPUs have to be in the bottom of the screen to finish the minigame as fast as possible.
CPU utilization in Ice Cream Throw, some circles had to go off the screen to spawn the next circles quickly. (And is possible the counter not count some circles, another thing to avoid)
Idk how i glitched my score counter in Weightlifting

Hard loop

In Log Cutting the 2nd or 3rd player has to be the last, to reduce the ball falling time
In Hammer Bash i have to manipulate the CPUs to do the action quickly, kill all the CPUs as fast as possible, manipulating the enemies and later dying as quickly as possible.

Super loop

In Obstacle Course i'm not satisfied with the result, i feel there's more lag frames that can be reduced but i don't know how
In swimming, i feel there´s 4-5 lag frames that can be reduced

Possible improvements

  • Better luck manipulation in Weightlifting and Freestyle Skiing
  • Better lag optimization in Obstacle Course and Swimming
  • Better bonus obtention in Obstacle Course, Swimming and Log Cutting

Screenshot

Still choosing

feos: The strategies make sense to me, given the mechanics of those sports and what the author decided to do to make them shorter. The only part that looks annoying is lag in Obstacle Course caused by characters navigating through water and dirt, but it's unclear if they can be manipulated to do that less.
Aiming for maximum score should be a valid vaultable goal for this game, since I haven't noticed anything that could define full completion better in this game. The passwords won't be allowed though, since every mini-game is unique.
Feedback wasn't too enthusiastic. Accepting to Vault.

Ugh. I had hoped you would do this the right way. The right TAS for this game is 'highest score' not time. HUGE no vote.

I'm sorry for disappoint you, but this TAS is more oriented to speed, but sometimes (like in bungee jump) i went for the max score to fill the dead time. A run oriented to the max score will generate more lag, more dead time moments and i think is less entertaining; also, it might requiere less route planning than this run, because this run requiere more CPU manipulation, more lag optimization and more route planning, so i think, this run is more impressive technically speaking than a max score run. Also, i don't wanted to entry in the controversy of the max score, since this game has an ending sequence
Currently making a route for Super Bomberman 5 200% TASes i'm planning: aero fighters, tg3000 (again), gradius 3, bust a move, bust a move plus, gradius rebirth, smg, smg2, mp9, gh3 (wii)

A maximum score TAS would be considered as full completion and could be accepted if there is no other/better ways to define full completion.

It just seems so pointless and sad. I loved the first set where you tried to hit as many targets as you could. I was very impressed by the work. Then I saw the weightlift and the jump and I was like, meh, really? It's like beating a track and field game with whiffs on each round. I mean, sure, I guess it's faster.. but it's less exciting from a superplay perspective. :(

Trying to contribute but my estimated render time is 25-30 hours and idk if it will be a good result. :(

I can see that the TAS is for the most part optimized, and I saw you doing some interesting stuff, like in Weightlifting, for example, in which you intentionally lifted in a way it gave you points, but it wouldn't take you to the next round, and that was an interesting approach. I approve. Also, disregard what I said about Bungee Jump. Checking again, I forgot that you had 100 seconds flat to get as many points as you need, and that the seconds that appear above your character is the time you have left before you're sent back to do a jump again. In that sense, it's more impressive that you stayed on-board the entire time, and then cleaning the board. Well done.

Hi jmosx36, any progress on the encodes? Normally, if you keep the encoding settings as is, the results should be of publishable quality, provided the info subtitles don't cover important stuff (and are at a gameplay segment rather than menus or intermission screens) and that the encoder logo is also acceptable.

Hi, literally i had to restart the render 3 times and my final estimated time from now is about another 30 hours. I hate myself right now But i have seen something strange for me, the "4k" encode took me about only 7 hours

I found it interesting. I thought you were going for minimum score but you focused on speed, that doesn't change the things much tho. A run focusing on highest score would be more entertaining and better to watch though. I hope you make a run like that now. Too bad the maximum score is 990 in most tracks.

Ok, thinking it better, a max score and speed oriented TAS at the same time could work, but i think that couldn't be accepted because, sacrifice time for gain more score might be considered suboptimal, taking into account that there's an ending sequence. If i make that run, i'll keep it in userfiles.

Both runs can be accepted, since they are in different categories. There are a lot games in the site that has more than one tas published.

I think this game choice does not work for me. The main problems are that the game is too simple and repetitive. This is further compounded by the lack of super play for some mini games where the fastest option seems to be to just to immediately fail. So...No vote unfortunately.

I think i have to practice first with other small movies before attempting again. And i haven't chosen the screenshot yet

Even though it's still processing you would be able to get most of the information this way. The encode is 412x360. Which is not a 4:3 ratio, that would be 480x360. So your encode unfortunately has errors. Anyways. Other issues: Tiny Toon Adventures - Wacky Sports Challenge. There should be a colon in the place of that dash. The text should be on the game field if possible, which would mean you would have to use the 2 line portion of the script. jmosx36 a question. Is it Jmosx36 or jmosx36. Author field has the lowercase whilst both your logo and your text has it with the uppercase J. I won't write anything about the logo besides the fact the text is not centered as that's a point that a Senior Publisher would have to talk to you about.

I agree that is pointless to repeat the same levels sometimes. A solution for that is using the password where you can choose the levels (Babs Bunny, Montana Max, Bookworm). So he could play each level only once. It doesn't beats the game itself but it solve the problem of repetitiveness.

If game title and sub-title are both several words long, we collapse them into something like tinytoonadventureswsc. Adding the system name to the game name is rarely needed and is only done to prevent collision with existing movies that have the same game name but are done on a different system. Finally, Archive uploading should only happen if the movie is already accepted.

No, i left that file there because i had 2 ending options and i didn't knew which i had to choose. Similar to Cpadolf in gradius 3 but inverted

Just as a note (since Spikestuff already pointed it out): You should lower the position of the subtitles so that they're not in the black area at the top. Just below it is fine. I'm giving you one last chance of making encodes that are up to publication standards. Should you not be able to make such encodes, then it'd probably be better if someone else made the encodes. I'm not saying this to outright discourage you from encoding, though, as any help is appreciated, but your first two attempts weren't up to publication standards, is just what I'm saying. If you have any questions, though, feel free to ask in the appropriate topic.

Well, i will not take that last chance, definitely i'm bad making encodes, logos, etc. I will not make the encode, but thanks to everyone for the advices
