Movement

King Kong moves with the same speed on all directions, up, down, left, right and diagonals, that means moving on diagonal will not be slower than moving on one direction only. Jumps on this game are slower than moving normally, so every time you do a Jump, it's 1 frame slower, that's why i tried not to Jump during all the run.

Speed Boost

Around the entire game there will be this type of Potions, every time you take one, you will run faster each time.

Warps

This run is considered any% because i didn't pass through the entire game, this game has some Warps to skip various levels, the Warps taken on this run are the fastest way to beat the game.

Water

King Kong moves a bit slower in the water than on the ground, i want to move as fast as possible, so i do a jump and i land before the screen transition, that will always be faster.

Water Jump Glitch

You can do an extra jump on the Water to keep your ground speed, this is a frame perfect trick, just when King Kong touch the Water, press A again to do an extra jump.

Animation Glitch

Every time King Kong does an attack (Punch or Rock Throw) the animation takes a bit of time and you will be stuck for a few frames on the same place, to cancel this animation you have to do a jump, you will land without the animation and moving normally.

Fast 3rd Warp

This is a strat that i found while doing this TAS and is not on the previous run, on the Water section, i get to the ground as fast as possible, then i get on the side where is the Warp and just when i have the correct range, i throw a rock to destroy the block where is the Warp to get to the door earlier.

Door Skip Glitch

On the final Area of this run, there is a door blocked before the Final Boss room, to get pass through it i take Damage Boost to the opposite direction, this allows me to get to the final boss without beating some others Bosses during the game. On the previous screen, i delayed a bit to take the dragon's shoot earlier due to his position on the screen, since his attack is based on a global timer.

That’s clearly Donkey Kong, not King Kong. You can’t convince me otherwise.

Is this a warp glitch or a form of level warp intended by the game?

The warps between levels are intentional. You are free to travel between levels but normally you are supposed to defeat each boss to get all the keys to unlock the final door. That door is skipped with damage boosts in the Any% run

Thanks Samsara, for the encode! I'm not sure if I follow the game itself, but the TAS was very entertaining. Yes vote.

I found an 11 frame improvement due to faster Door Skip Glitch before the Final Boss: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/64855657868887675

Really smooth Door Skip Glitch, and I did notice the strategy change for that 3rd warp gate. Nice job. This game has such a confusing layout for glitchless playthroughs; I don't know how people are expected to figure out the point of the game on their own with no hints or walkthroughs.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

It think it would be cool to watch an "all bosses" TAS, too! This game is great!

166 frame improvement. Very nice. Seems like this is very well done, but at 2:15, you wander around a small bit. On the previous submission, this does not occur. Can you give an explanation on why this was done?
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

This is explained on the submission as ''Door Skip Glitch'', basically that's a manipulation for the enemy to take his shoot as soon as possible to do the Glitch.

Ok...great. Now I have the association to the glitch that is being discussed. I wasn't sure what it was related to. Thanks.

When i saw the previous TAS of this game i thought there was no chance of finding new optimizations, but Baddap1 showed i was wrong and put a good improvement for this game making this TAS as IMO one of the most optimized unless something big is found. Great TAS
