Xaphan, if you're only going to go forward with this run with a partner, I would be happy to team up with you. However, I'd like to know what you have planned as improvements/what you have done so far.

Unless I'm totally out of the thing, could you provide us with a save state or SRAM for that version of the game so that I can follow your progress... Please :)

Well, i was not going to ask Zefiris for being my partner as he's working on his project, though it's true that I've been looking for a partner to improve (greatly) my pure speed normal mode run of MMZ4 (using the (E) version of the rom). I'd be glad to team up with you Zurreco... Roughly, the improvement I've planned were as follow : - The big improvement part would be to gain the double jump chip... this'll be the hardest part of the run as most of the pieces needed for that are in Heat Genblem's level like the some of the parts for the Galacta armor... It will require a lot of Luck Manipulation... - This will result in changing the Boss Order (Still going for Mandragora first, then Genblem instead of Cockapetri) - Improving not so good part (I don't have precise examples for now but i'll check it again) I've already improved the first two missions I'll post the WIP in the evening... and I'll try to be more precise about what should be modified too... If you're still interested in that project, I'd be really happy :)

It's in first post of my topic ( http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=99342 ), but if you have problems with decoding MIME, I will find other way to share it )

I had a small list of improvements for the run as a whole somewhere, but I think I can remember most of it. -Use the E ROM so that I know what crafting materials are dropping :p -The second boss (before you meet the Einharjer) should be beaten with a charged shot, if possible, so that you can blow him up and fall to the door at the same time. -Genblem should be done second, since you really need to downstab to finish that fight as soon as possible. I would have normally said to do him first, but you need Noble's EX Skill to beat the FireDragon and Genblem a lot faster. -In Cokapetri's level, do you need to kill that mine carrier at the mid-boss area? The last room (spikes with moving handles) also seems improvable, but I haven't tested that theory. -If you're still taking the lower route in Fenrir's stage, you only need to use Genblem's EX skill to melt the ice (ie no Vshot needed). -Try to find a way to grab a water cannon in the base assault level, so as to extinguish that flame that hits you in the current run. Just a thought; probably not applicable. -Luck manipulation with Kraken, Pegasault, and the Jail boss would be great. I'm pretty sure that you can get off a triple-slash if a block lands near to the Jail boss' head. -Miniboss in Magnus' stage could be improved by using the wall as a jump position. -In Random Bandom's stage, the room order should be fixed so that you don't need to trek across the main room as much as you did. I propose that [Up, Left, Down, Right] is the fastest path to take here. -The Weil2 battle is improvable. Don't waste so much time killing the nets, and toss a few slashes in to the three large red balls so that they dissipate much faster. -Generally using a charged buster whenever you can, so as to avoid the slash-lag. That, or the knuckle, since ripping a weapon and tossing it still saves you that one frame loss.

Won't be easy to do and might not be optimal technique to go as fast as possible...

Are you talking about the worm-like enemy ? The last room is probably highly improvable... though i still do not know how... I agree pretty much on the other improvements... Another improvement comes to my mind... Using the Charged turn aroud slash to defeat mid-bosses a lot faster

I had no idea that you could turn after charge-slashing. I guess that shows how little I have tested with this game. If you really do want to partner up, I'd be more than welcome to. Feel free to PM me what you have so far so that I can get back to you on it.

To begin with, you'll find the two first levels in this file. I have to redo the end of the battle against the second boss to do as you suggested, that is to say, finish it with a charged saber hit in order to fall down before the end of the fight... Though this will give you a good view of the imrpovements of the beginning and you may have comments on it... Enjoy... if you accept our partnership you can PM me, MSN me or whatever you want to contact me... Now it shall be soon time to go to bed for me

Just watched the first two levels. Everything looked real kosher. Do you know how much time you will have saved once you edit the second boss fight? As per your request, I humbly accept your invitation to partner up. I guess I'll PM you about that.

Of course! I wanted to give this a try once but who is better than Xaphan to do this after he has done all four of them.

Good to hear ! I'm working actively on it right now... I've made some improvements thanks to Zefiris and I have made my route plan thanks to Zurreco's advice... I'd still be very glad if someone wanted to share the work with me. Zefiris can't unfortunately... Though if no one can, I'll be going on it alone... just hope that I'll be lucky as I will really need it ...

Gosh, sorry for the late answer... Well I'd really appreciate some help... Thanks for being volunteer :) Do you know some basics of the game ? I'll try to get back to IRC when I get time, though I'm a bit overwhelmed by work right now... I guess I'd just be a horrible partner but if you still accept... Thanks a lot... PS : Finished first level... I began Area Zero...

Well I'm a total hardcore MM player but this one is only in (J) so i wouldn't know what the hell is going on so maybe you should do it alone. I would have loved to help since the game basics are the coolest and I'm a fan of every MM series but i seriously think that you should do it all the way. Not that i don't want to help but for MMZ4 I'd say - Your the man Xaphan.. Cant wait to see some work.

Awfully good XD But in the end movie file is broken (I tried downloading twice). IT has some random input causing game to reset many-many times o_o

Hugh, dead I am not ! Though very busy I am currently and very little progress has been made so far... I'm currently moving (to the south of france) in September so I won't be able to work on it until that time... But do not worry, this improvement will be released (or I'll buy you tomatoes that you'll be able to throw at me if I do not keep my promise) I'm planning to release a new WIP for the end of September and sorry for haven't given any news so far... Now... please go ahead, blame me !

I just viewed this thread a week ago, and I thought you were no longer working on this. As a result, I'd spended a whole week in improving the published run before I finally found this thread.... EDIT: I'll continue!
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do

So uhh, does that mean you'll continue working on it and submit, or does it mean something else? :)
