A lot of people are probably going to disagree with me on this since it's a pretty close call between quite a few epic movies... and then this. Anyway, I'm going to nominate Bob Whoops' long run of Umihara Kawase. I'm not sure if having never played the game beforehand helped or hurt my enjoyment of it, but I definitely got a kick out of watching him catapult a little girl all over the place, and provide entertainment during the otherwise long boring boss "battles." I loved the frog and crab wrangling he did, along with bringing himself to the brink of death numerous times only to slingshot back. In summary: not too long, not too short, varied action with very entertaining waiting periods, and unfamiliar subject material (on a side note, a friend and I each ended up losing about a week of our lives trying to play through the game after watching the movies in the speedrun competition thread) add up to equal my (most likely meaningless) vote in a very heated field.

Super Metroid (any %) by Terimakasih Excellent playthrough of a classic game and despite being more than 3/4 of an hour, it never bored me once. Also, SMW 96-exit by VIPer7 is another excellent of a long, wholly entertaining movie.

I'd have to say the long Super Metroid by Terimakasih, this is as good as it gets. All the creative use of using the speed booster even while using the morph ball gets my vote. http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=311 Edit, I'd also like to add the Mega Man X 2 movie. The creative use of weapons made it very entertaining for me. Also the speed of some areas kept my mouth open. http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=160

Phil and Genisto's Super Castlevania IV run. I really enjoyed this movie. Insanely fast boss fights, nice tricks, and very well played all around. Nitsuja's Sparkster run. Even though I'd never played this game before, this run was just really fun to watch. The speed of this game and the pace of the run is crazy. Blechy's Umihara Kawase run. I can't even reach half the exits used in this movie, much less think about doing some of the tricks.
If for honesty, you want apologies, I don't sympathize.

I second both Umihara runs, though I'd vote for Bob Whoops'. And Viper's SMW run, but that's already been seconded.

Couldn't agree more. In my opinion the DKC movies have gotten way too little attention.

Comparing dkc with other movies in snes I would not nominate it because the other movies are more entertaining and a bit better planned such as Super Castlevania 4 by Phil Côté and Genisto. Now that is a FLAWLESS RUN, I don't think it is possible to even improve it (even if it is possible to improve it, then it sure as hell would not be a big improvement). So that's my objective vote (if I would have be subjective I would have picked Super Metroid any % by Terimakasih) run: Super Castlevania 4 by Phil Côté and Genisto. Regarding Terimas run, yes it is indeed a beautiful run but I would bet you could improve it by perhaps 1 or 2 minutes. Because I feel that he did not entirely explore all possible areas to improve like in Super Castlevania as Phil and Genisto did. In their run, you really got the impression that they really tried to use every glitch, trick, taking hits to save time. I feel that Terima perhaps could have taken more hits in various places to save time.

ANGERFIST: How improvable a movie might be should not be taken into account for how much entertainment it provided.

Well, it depends on how easily you can see the improvements.

Only if you see bits in the movie where you think to yourself "that could be done better," and even then I think only if you're watching it for the first time. Although sometimes that doesn't actually make it any less entertaining. (and, in contrast, sometimes that completely kills a movie, like the first MMX3 run.)

Nach I understand your point so here is a further explaination of what I meant with improvement. It seems that all tiny bits are combined with each other, for instance, planning a game (like Phil's and Genisto's SuperCastlevania), how well it was executed, how well the glitches/tricks/taking hits to save time were used and explored and finally how big the chances are to improve it for a new version. If a movie is not even close to be improved after it has been voted to be published then it states the quality of the movie, the efficiency, the performance, the entertainment value. I hope I explained myself well but I sincerely understood your point. * Btw, can someone tell me the difference between the entertaining category and the most unbelieveable movie category, because I have hard time to distinguish them.*

Most entertaining is the movie you found to enjoy watching the most, you could see it several times, and still be entertained by watching the movie. Most unbelievable is a movie for a game you know, and you see stuff being done that you couldn't fathom were possible. For some examples how you can have one but not the other, take SleepZ's River City Random movie. It's very entertaining watching people getting hit with a garbage can and reading some of their funny comments, but there's nothing there that you didn't know you could do before. Then there's Morimoto's Gradius movie, never fathomed of only getting speed and doing figure 8s around enemy craft, but on the other hand, it's not funny at all and highly repetive, so you may only find it entertaining for a short time. Finally there is the best movie category, in which winners from previous categories are eligible for, in which you choose which movie had the best combination and overall value from the best of each category. ANGERFIST: you seem like your nominating this movie, not for best entertainment, but for best movie. "If a movie is not even close to be improved after it has been voted to be published then it states the quality of the movie, the efficiency, the performance, the entertainment value. " Of the different qualities you stated, only the last one is to be taken into account for this category.

How many seconds are your new ideas adding up to so far? And where's your sub-45 run? =/

Could entertainment also include how good the game looks/sounds/feels?

What exactly do you mean by how good the game looks?

But of course. A lot of entertainment comes from the game itself. Take Secret Collect for example, no matter what you do in the game, it's not going to be entertaining for more than a few seconds.
