#7172: CasualPokePlayer's GB Tsuri Sensei in 03:46.32

Submission Text Full Submission Page
Tsuri Sensei is a fishing game.
I am not joking. Although I suppose that explains why it never got out of Japan eh?
Something something win a tournament and you get credits. There isn't really too much to comment on, other than the maps are randomly generated when you start the tournament, and that is manipulated for favorable movement. Also, fishing is randomish, although the fastest fish I get happens to be a winning fish, so not too much manipulation there.
Also apparently this game has ACE potential, but it seems to be faster to just play the game normally due to it being so short.

slamo: Judging! Unclaiming for now, just saw the thread.
feos: Delaying until new bizhawk release.
feos: New hawk is out now. Resetting.
slamo: Replaced movie file with resynced movie and updated emulator version.
slamo: So this one was a bit tricky to research, considering the entire game is in Japanese as well as any information about the game online. From what I can figure, the optimization is good. The routing is pretty straightforward; you only need one good fish to win the game and the tournament length is set to the minimum. The RNG for the map and the fishing minigame look good as well. It also beats the only record I could find. Accepting.
Zinfidel: Processing...

This game seems unintentionally hilarious. For one thing, it's actually faster to disregard an ACE exploit? You win the whole game on your first ever catch?... and what's that one guy with the F on his mask, predating the whole "press F to pay respects" meme? I can't say this is actually an entertaining run for its gameplay though.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

All games deserve their TAS, I don't know the game but the credits are triggered very quickly. Yes vote

Ok, so... What even ARE the rules of this tournament? How do you win by catching one fish? Is the fish really that special?

I really don't know. I tried figuring out the scoring system but I did not have any luck, mostly due to the code being complete ass (the code doesn't even appear compiled when overall looked into, it just looks like extremely rushed code). What I know is getting some expensive bait = get some high scoring fish = win. Also, at the beginning you actually can set the days the tournament can go on for (3-94 iirc?). I assume anyways that more days = higher difficulty. I use the lowest (default) day counter, so I assume this is essentially the easiest difficulty.

I glanced at several pages that explained how the game works. First part of quote is yes, that's only how tournament mode (you picked for your tas) works. And opponents only get same score so if you catch good fish, you win. (Apparently each fishes have their fixed score more or less) For second quote, you can set certain number of days as you said. But it's not difficulty. More days just open for preparation for good bait so less days means harder difficulty but faster (You need to spend all days you set to end tournament) I guess.

Ah, so this submission is effectively the hardest difficulty (which the only difference in practicality is less days having to chug through in the inn). Thanks!

Requesting delay until BizHawk 2.6.3/2.7 is released, the current movie desyncs on console due to an inaccuracy fixed in dev builds. Resync to latest dev build: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/72994296903763990 Console verification using this resync: Link to video

Entertainment wise, it's clearly lacking, but it does the job of finishing the game as fast as possible, and I don't see obvious improvements, so I'd say it's good to go for vaults.
