Welcome to the new site. Completely different than the old site. One of the major site changes is that we have much better password hashing going on, and with better password rules. Passwords must be at least 12 characters long. Go change your password. Thank you. Also, if you're having an issue signing in, known sign-in issues include: - having a space in your username These issues are being investigated, and should be resolved shortly.

A quick update, users with a space in their name can log in now. And given the old site was http, I think it is best to be paranoid and assume that password was sniffed on the internet somewhere, so yes, please update your password. Also, at some point, anyone who hasn't logged in to the site will be losing their password and have to go through the forgot password workflow. So best to do this now while it is easy :)

Everyone who hasn't logged in, has had to do this already by now. If you are someone who logged in but never updated your password, you still should do this :) But I am removing this as an announcement since a vast majority of users have been updated.

I will leave my password unchanged. I trust that the staff of TASVideos will not abuse privileged information.

At the very least, you have logged into the new site, which means that your password is no longer stored via an incredibly unsafe hashing algorithm, and is instead now secured by a much more healthy algorithm. But, anyone who has maliciously acquired the old database (there were security issues, I'm honestly surprised that no breach has been loudly announced), can reverse engineer your old (and current) password. This has nothing to do with current site staff "abusing privileged information" -- we can't see your password -- and everything to do with trying to move forward in a sane and secure manner.

That’s not even remotely close to why you need to change your password. THIS is why:
