Sticky, is it normal for people to have thin blue lines on their bare arms? I'm looking at Richter Belmont for reference and I'm not seeing blue lines anywhere.

Huh, now that you mention it, it does look shopped... How strange. But I assure you it's not, I don't know how to use Photoshop, and I wouldn't go through all that trouble anyway. :) It's just a beautiful summer day in Sweden, I guess.

Well, as I said, lighting is tricky. Oftentimes to get a well-illuminated primary subject, you have to have over- or under-exposed background elements, because the scene isn't evenly illuminated. In your case, the sky was a lot brighter than your face (er...that sounded kinda like an insult), so to get a well-lit face, you have to accept an over-exposed sky, or else try to do some compositing or filtering tricks.
