Happy New Year, TASVideos! To celebrate, here's my 2nd TAS submission.
Mickey's Safari in Letterland is an educational platformer released in March 1993 by Hi Tech Expressions. The clumsy Mickey Mouse has lost 6 letter moulds on his paid safari drive. He now must go back into the safari without permission, find the moulds and return them to Mickey's Magnificent Mould Museum. He has 4 minutes to return to his jeep before he gets arre- Okay, I must admit, the real story's probably a bit less dramatic then that. Anyways, here's some comments about the TAS.
Objectives:
- Emulator used: FCEUX 2.6.4
- Uses "Normal", the fastest difficulty
- Ha-huh! Ha-huh!
Level Loading Times:
The level loading times vary depending on a frame cycle. I delay starting the level for 1-3 frames to get the fastest loading times.
Loading times from pressing A to black screen:
Goofy Laugh - 101 frames
Oh Boy - 112 frames
Both sound effects - 162 frames
Other Game Physics:
The museum and end of level cutscenes can be skipped by pressing start.
Sliding on slopes is faster than walking. Slopes can only be found in level 1.
Collecting the letter crystals found in the levels is suboptimal as Mickey stops for a couple seconds to collect one.
If you fall from too high a distance, Mickey takes a few seconds to recover and continue walking.
A couple of surfaces make Mickey tiptoe instead of walk, which is obviously slower.
On the letter select screens, the game can only process input up to 20 times per second.
I don't have much else to say about this TAS. Any improvements would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading!
