Sk8-Bit is a homebrew skateboarding game released for the Game Boy Colour by DH13. You can play as one of two different skaters and go through one of two modes: Challenge and Free Skate. This TAS plays through the "Challenge" mode.

About the TAS:
This TAS plays through the first 19 levels. After that, level 20 is a kill screen. Being an autoscroller, the gameplay is quite trivial: just correctly timed jumping. The special thing about this TAS is that if it gets published, it'll be my first Game Boy Colour publication!
I don't have anything else notable to say about this TAS. Thanks for reading.
Alternate Movie
A similar TAS featuring the GBC bootup at the start has been made by BlackWinnerYoshi: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638157020610890961
BlackWinnerYoshi: Changed game version to "unknown" (not on No-Intro/TOSEC and no known other versions), removed "Challenge" branch (I don't think it's needed, but can be added later if "Freeskate" will actually need a separate branch) actually I think the branching is needed (did a quick test), added new used emulator versions (synced on both 2.9-rc3 and 2.9), embedded encode.

ViGadeomes: Claiming for judging.
ViGadeomes: Sorry for the delay....
Replacing the movie with a 2 frames improvement which was also made in GBA mode from BlackWinnerYoshi adding them as co-author while keeping the endpoint(input end) & rerecord count from the original movie as well as adding cyclecount... *ush*
Everything is good to me, Accepting.

despoa: Processing...

Improved by using a BIOS and the GBA mode for potential console verification: User movie #638157020610890961 Notes: - The time appears longer not only because of the BIOS, but also (possibly) because of more accurate SameBoy emulation (this submission uses Gambatte) and the fact I left blank frames to make my encoding process slightly easier. I also included additional inputs to get back to the home screen. - I didn't use TAStudio, so the rerecord count is unknown. - I used a release candidate BizHawk version, but it should sync just fine on 2.8 as well. - While this submission holds the A button for a total of 1392 frames, I hold it for 1289 frames. It may not be optimal though, but it doesn't really matter. If someone does want to improve it, they should use the same settings as mine for potential console verification as well. (if it wasn't obvious, that one B press to get back to the home screen doesn't count.)

As I said, it's not really an improvement (as in, saved frames), only to make potential console verification possible, so you should find the BIOS instead (I assume that's what you're struggling with). I can't exactly find the name used in GoodTools/No-Intro/TOSEC, so you have to search for the GBC+AGB BIOS by yourself, I CANNOT provide it!! I can only say the SHA1/SHA256 is

oh, i get what you mean by that now. i thought you meant you had improved the menuing. in that case, i won't have to check it. however, i will add your version in the submission comments.

So it's impossible to finish this any quicker/slower as long as you don't die and just jump correctly. Hmm.

as of 1/1/2023, triviality is no longer a factor for whether a tas gets accepted or rejected.

Hope it gets accepted then. You're a good TASer.

It got accepted! Although, ViGadeomes (I hope you'll still read this), why I'm added in the "additional authors" section? On the other GB submission, I can see that this section is "Only [for] authors not registered for TASVideos". EDIT: and why add the "Challenge" branch? Can the "Freeskate" mode have an actual ending that TASvideos usually requires?

Oops, fixed.

I don't know, if a submission is made in this mode it will be required, otherwise I felt it wasn't obviously the main mode for the game, the encoder will remove it if it is wrong ;).

adding cyclecount...
Well, ViGadeomes, you kinda screwed that up too: It's not 636177476 cycles, but actually 636177472 cycles. It's definitely enough for BizHawk to complain, so I think the movie file should be updated.
EDIT: I should have not said it that way, I want to apologise. EDIT 2 because I didn't disable "minor edit", also I wanted to split the message: since ViGadeomes wanted to keep using the version of the original submission and Samsara (to humiliate myself in front of an admin, damn it...) supports it, the cycle count info is completely irrelevant, since BizHawk 2.8 doesn't care anyway,

Yeah, buddy, I'm gonna have to ask you to not talk to staff that way. EDIT 2: Apology accepted, thanks for owning up to it c: I've reworded this post to be more informative and less defensive as a result. EDIT: BizHawk 2.8, which is the version stated in the submission text as being used for the run, does not give the cycle count error, so the file doesn't need to be replaced as 2.8 should be what's used for the publication.
