I think most here know this hack, right? 😎
For those who don't know, this is the famous Super Diagonal Mario 2, better known as the most HILARIOUS hack ever! This hack was made by a Brazilian called Lester Vine and you can find this here. This is a meme hack, full of funny things, especially Mario himself who suffers from terrible back pain 😆
This TAS simply aims to do funny things in the levels and show funny things from the hack itself. It serves as "playaround" or as "glitchfest" and I personally prefer "glitchfest" (that's why I put glitchfest in the branch).

Game Objectives 🎯

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.6.3
  • Allow Left+Right / Up+Down
  • Core Faust
  • Abuses programming errors
  • Crashes the game intentionally
  • Take hit and use death to show funny things
  • Aims for show funny tricks and messing around in the levels
This hack contains the SA-1 chip. For this reason, I was obliged to use the "Faust" core because it is the only one (in this emulator version 2.6.3) that works together with the script for Super Mario World hacks with SA-1. The BSNES core unfortunately doesn't work with this script (maybe it does now, in the new released version of BizHawk).

Comments 💭

After watching this TAS you'll notice that it has a significant amount of kills (from Mario, obviously) and that's because there are dozens (maybe hundreds) of hilarious ways to die in this hack, and I couldn't let this one go unnoticed. Here are some curiosities:
  • Time is up at Yoshi's house 🐲
  • Mario died, but life went on as usual in Yoshi's Island 2 🙂
  • Mario died in an earthquake in Donut Plains 1 🌪
  • You will see the best explosion of your life in Donut Plains 4 💣
  • Apparently someone turned off the light on the map 💡
  • Mario died in a message box in Donut Secret 1 🤔
  • Did you play with the dog in the Top Secret Area? 🐕
  • Mario took a nice ride with bullet bills in PEW PEW PEW 😆
The bob-ombs in Donut Plains 4 crashes the game and this is part of the hack. There was no major reason for that DP4 crash, I just followed what it said in the message box. 😅💣

Special Thanks 💌

  • Noise for giving me some feedbacks
  • Bruno Valads for developing a script for Super Mario World hacks with SA-1
  • To you who watched and liked what you saw 🖤

feos: Claiming for judging.
feos: I think this movie is insane. For the entire duration of it I was unable to figure out what's going on. But the part I did get is this hack is loaded with jokes and variety. I'm not familiar with it, and there's little to no information what is even normal gameplay in this game, so it's hard to understand what is and what isn't a glitch. But the movie itself is also loaded with creativity, so it never gets old. In this context, being unable to figure out what's going on is exactly what we want from a glitchfest! And it's obvious that the amount of work behind this is far from mediocre. Even without too much feedback (which we would need if the result was questionable), I think this movie is definitely the thing we want to encourage to end up having more cool playarounds in the future. Accepting to Alt.
feos: Trimmed a few empty frames at the end.

despoa: Processing...

Ok... wow. For a game that is already a massive joke, where things look glitchy without any special effort from the player, this does a lot of stuff I didn't know was possible in SMW. How many of these glitches can only be done in this fangame (not in original SMW)? I've never seen corrupted flight paths for the blocks from flying Hammer Bros, for instance. I also liked the part where you fall really fast with a P-Balloon to die inside a speakerbox. The run goes a little long with some of the jokes. It's usually quite entertaining. It's unclear whether this meets publishing standards, in my opinion. Nice work though. I voted Meh.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

You don't have to rate your own TAS a 10/10.

Rating doesn't need to be "validated", because we simply want more rates.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
