This TAS saves two seconds overall compared to the previous TAS.
Framerule Saves Breakdown:
  • 1 framerule in 3-4 by Slither thanks to cleaner movement.
  • 1 framerule in 4-1 by me thanks to a cleaner end.
  • 1 framerule in 4-4 by me by jumping out to accelerate faster.
  • 3 framerules in 5-3 by Gaster thanks to better cheep alignments on the faster framerules.
  • 2 frames were saved in 8-4 clipping to the top rather than wall-jumping.

Darkman425: Claiming for judging.
Darkman425: Nice work on y'all to save 6 frame rules as well as 2 frames on 8-4! I also adjusted the submission text make the breakdown easier to read.

This movie has been published. The posts before this message apply to the submission, and posts after this message apply to the published movie. ---- [5301] NES Super Mario Bros. Special: 35th Anniversary Edition by SeraphmIII, gaster319 & slither in 20:01.37

I noticed this was submitted and published as a 20:01.37, but if you download the input file, it's still has the blank frames at the end making it a 20:01.94 (72235 frames). I can't tell what the frame count on the actual publication is, but I managed to trim it down to 72182 frames, which would be a 20:01.055. If I'm doing my math correctly, I think you guys only trimmed it to the 7-button flash at 72201.

That was intentional. SMB1 TASes are universally timed to touching the axe, not the final necessary input.

Why is there a mismatch between the submission and publication length regardless?

Pub file was replaced, submission file wasn't. Not a difficult fix, just one that was overlooked. EDIT: Fixed.

I thought all games were timed power on to last input around here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to mooch my way onto the authors list or anything, I'm just surprised to learn this. Is this sort of a legacy thing?
