Yep, b nailed it. As a matter of fact, taking damage causes you to pause for one frame when you land...I'll see if there's a way to avoid some of these hits when I do my real run.
And yes, there are actually two spots where the wind forces me to climb walls normally. There's the one you mentioned, and also earlier in the stage (before the first ladder when I jump left onto that wall...I climb for a tiny bit before jumping forward onto the platform). I tried every possible way, and the wind makes it impossible to walljump.
