World 3 is done, but there is a problem: FCEU do the same error like my fast as possible version: this time it desynchro at random at the end of level 2-3 or at the sun level or on the ship of world 3. I recorded again the ship, but the problem occur again at the same frame. I will wait that someone fix the problem before I continue, otherwise it will be more important. http://genisto.servehttp.com/smb3_amazing_run_w3_prg1.zip

Its not aimed at speed, but full of entertainment, I like it.

I don't pretend to be an expert at any of this stuff but I tried viewing the movies posted in this thread, such as http://genisto.servehttp.com/smb3_amazing_run_w3_prg1.zip , in FCEU and right at the end of world 1 Genisto dies. After this the button combinations get screwed up. Mario uses the whistle and warps to world 4. At this point the button combinations for world 2 are done in the world 4 "overworld". This makes for an ...interesting... video to say the least. What am I missing here and has anyone else had a similar problem before? Oh and I'm using fceu-0.98.12 that blip has modified found here: http://www.filespace.org/blip/fceu-0.98.12-blip.win.rar

What am I missing here and has anyone else had a similar problem before? I was having desyncing problems with both this movie and the speed run, but then I found out he's using the PRG1 version and not the PRG0 version and then it worked fine.

Oh, hey, has anyone ever seen if that bottomless pit where he dies in the castle in world two ever ends? In other words, has anyone ever done that with a p-wing and kept flying on the other side?

Now there's something to try. Also, what CAUSES this desync?

You can fly to the right untill the timer runs out, nothing appears. If you fly only a little to the right, you can fly to the left aswell untill the timer runs out, the castle won't return.

Only a good programmer could fix those random timing. Sorry.

This is pretty sweet. But you skipped the chomp chain level, I was looking forward to that. I love the deaths, especially in toad's house. Also, do you plan on beating any levels with the frog suit for the special message? I do seem to get the desync on world 3 airship.

What special message?

I've tried 20+ times and it always desyncs there. Unless, of course, Genisto meant to die, use a star on the map screen, go in a pipe, and jump around till time runs out.

I haven't once had a desync, maybe I'll do a quick encoding for all of you who can't watch it.

That'd be nice. I get desyncs, too (with the PRG1 version, too, so that's not the problem); they're in different parts, but mostly in the ship in world 3. >_>

Figured I'd add I also get the desync where Mario is crushed in the World 3 doom ship. It also desyncs in the world 2 brick pyramid level when I use turbo; gets killed by the shell.

I think the warp whistles should be used to play world 5 over and over again. >_>

I have the exact same desynch problem. No turbo and the brick pyramid is fine, but he always gets crushed on the level 3 airship. Some elite programmer who would like to look into this?

You could warp backwards and redo levels if you wanted, I think in Worlds 5 and 6.

I'm seeing the same when I use the FCEU version I've always used in Linux. It worked properly in the Windows version I downloaded from... bobwhoop's mirror, I think.

YtterbiJum, the special message happens when you beat one of the children of bowser and restore the king to his true form by wearing Frog Suit, Tanooki Suit or Hammer Bros Suit... i dont think theres any others though.

I've been trying to think of tool-assisted challenges besides just getting fastest time, and for starters I came up with this. I got this idea from trying to do this as a kid (come on, you know you did it too). http://www.samus.co.uk/cad/smb3_grab_the_coins.fca (U version) Your goal is to record a tool-assisted movie from this savestate of hitting the switch and getting as many coins as possible before the switch time runs out. What's the maximum amount of coins you can collect? Here's a (very sloppy) movie of me getting 178 coins, which is my current record. http://www.samus.co.uk/cad/smb3_coins_178.fcm

It's a savestate file. FCEU's savestate files have the extension .fc?, meaning the last character could be anything.

Just of note, with 100% I can get a steady average of 160 coins before they reset.
