http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1793179306/SuperMarioAllStars.smv I did this as a filler for my youtube channel a while ago, it's 100% up to the the world 3 autoscroller in SMBAS. It's improvable in a few places, and I frequently misjudged HB manipulation, but there's a start.

http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. I think the appearance place of N_spade glitch to be random. If it is possible to pile it up on the stage, it can shorten there. Disappearing stage glitch http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1579027227/Super_Mario_Bros._3_%28U%29_%28PRG0%29nspadelost.fm2 There is a possibility that it can be used for TAS.

Presumably it's not just graphical, and you can move to stage 2 after that?

That can't possibly be a new glitch, because that happens all the time if you're practicing SMB3 and constantly getting game overs. I've experienced it every time I practice on console.

Yeah, this has happened countless of times for me. I always tried to find a use for it, but never could.

Is it, perhaps, possible to make that minigame appear on a level that hasn't been played yet? Some stages in the no-warps TAS are very long, this might be a way to skip them.

The condition of the N_spade glitch has been understood. In the place that Mario cleared secondarily from the end in the previous world, It becomes the same coordinates where N_spade appears there. http://kineko.dyndns.org/~touhou/up/source/up8477.jpg The W6 fortresses_2 disappears. However, does it take time to TAS too much? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1016269868/Super_Mario_Bros._3_%28U%29_%28PRG0%29W6F2skip.fm2 I'm sorry I'm not good at English.

Does this glitch require the use of the warp whistle? If it doesn't, it won't be very useful for the no-warps run. If it can be done without using the warp whistle, it could be a useful way to skip a long level.

Even if the whistle is not used, it is possible. Next, the flag of the place of which N_spade goes out is continued. And, it thought about the another way for TAS. Perhaps, though it is not possible to use. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/573996717/Super_Mario_Bros._3_%28U%29_%28PRG0%29W2stage2_3skip.fm2

I am doing a playthrough of Super Mario Bros. 3 on Suepr Mario bros. All Stars but how different is the NES game from the SNES version? What cheats can I do on the SNES version that I couldn't on the NES? Or is all the same?

There's a glitchfest of the SMAS version that helpfully demonstrates many of the glitches available. The SMAS version isn't really slower due to lack of glitches, it's slower because of the second title screen and menu you have to go through. This, combined with how contested SMB3 has been, would mean it is likely impossible to get a faster run on the SNES version, so it doesn't stand much of a chance at being accepted.

unless you find a really good glitch in the snes version... Say, did anyone ever tried to corrupt the save? You now, like Chrono Trigger? Is this even possible?

While I haven't personally tried it, I would have my doubts about it being possible. Unlike games like Chrono Trigger or Pokémon Yellow, SMAS saves very little data, since all it ever needs to save for a given game/save slot is current world and possibly items held. It would sound like it'd take less than a frame for the game to actually save, which if that were the case would mean TAS's frame precision would be too slow to be able to corrupt it in an input file.

You could use the debugging version of snes9x. But this brings up a rather interesting idea. An SNES has capacitors and obeys the laws of physics. Parts of the device may remain on longer than others. Processor behavior under failing power situations is undefined. Would it be even be possible in real life to cut power precisely after an instruction executed but before the next instruction did?

Really the title says it all. I would really love to see someone try to tas mario 3 with the NSEZZE game genie code. For those who have not seen this code in action, it makes the game unpredictable and weird, with the ever present threat of being consumed by glitches. Im not really sure if it is possible to complete, but if anyone can find a path to the end, it with a tas.

Well, why don't you try it?

I doubt it'd get accepted, but I'd love to see what you could come up with it, flyingdeath. Also, next time, post this in the NES Games section.

The code may be implemented as a patch, doesn't it?
