This video is a TAS (Tool-Assisted Speedrun) of a Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Hack Rom. For more information on TAS, visit https://tasvideos.org

ABOUT THE HACK:

Sonic Classic Heroes is a ROM hack for Sega Mega Drive that is the result of a collaboration between flamewing and ColinC10, combining their respective hacks Sonic 2 Heroes and Sonic 1 and 2. It is therefore a single ROM that offers all the Sonic the Hedgehog campaigns. and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, either alone or together; and allows the player to play as many characters as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. The hack gets its name because of the ability to control a team of characters, which is reminiscent of the 3D game, Sonic Heroes.
The hack is based on the Sonic 2 engine, which has been enhanced by both Flamewing and ColinC10 to have new features. These include: multiple gameplay elements from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, such as element shields and character-specific abilities; the ability to save progress, scores, etc. in SRAM (something rarely implemented in Sonic 2, the other notable example being Esrael's Sonic 2 Delta); various bug fixes and mechanic improvements from the original games; and many more features, both implemented and planned.

COMMENTS:

The truth is, it was fun as well as challenging for me to complete this TAS, since I have little experience with TASes (Those who saw my other videos will already know), but it occurred to me after finishing the SCH TAS in Any%. The first areas were easy for me, due to the familiarization with the speed, but there are those that took me more than 10 attempts to beat Zekann's record, such as Labyrinth, Aquatic Ruin, Metropolis and more. Although after almost half a month, I managed to finish the TAS with record time (World Record... I think), putting an end to the greatest effort I have given in my life. Another fact, those on the "Sonic TASers" server will already know about the problem that my laptop had where I uploaded videos (It crashed) so I was forced to complete it from my old PC (A very slow one). It didn't stop me though, and I was able to create this Speedrun.

SPECIAL THANKS:

Zekann: He was the one who gave me the challenge of beating his TAS. Basically, he gave me the foundation and the challenge, which helped me get a better time.
rodonic01: It was the TAS encoder, which makes it enjoyable. Thanks for helping me in this part.
Enjoy TAS and Happy New Year
Played by: CyanTheGamerhog01 (Me)

feos: Claiming for judging.
feos: Trimmed empty input at the end.
feos: Some improvements were suggested in the thread, but the run still looks good. Accepting as a full completion branch.

despoa: Processing...

Looks... not horrible. There's a notable amount of time to be saved, but a lot of it comes from routing choices (such as using a different character in Labyrinth 1). The hack itself is interesting enough. For now, Meh. EDIT: ... as soon as I figure out how to vote (i'm new) :-p

Looks quite good for me, but I didn’t try to improve it. My only question would be about CNZ2 boss: is it really worthy to waste time to collect some extra rings before the boss to turn hyper there? I highly doubt if it saves more time than it wasted. Also, this game actually allows 3P mode (when you control all three characters at the same time), but I assume this is an 1P mode run.
S3&A [Amy amy%] improvement (with Evil_3D & kaan55) — currently in SPZ2 my TAS channel · If I ever come into your dream, I’ll be riding an eggship :)

Okay, notice that error. I was able to skip the Hyper like in EHZ2 for the boss, but I didn't look for how to improve it, it was my mistake. In addition to other errors that I noticed, such as in SBZ2 where I finished it in approximately 31 seconds while in "Any%" I did it in 30 seconds. There are errors that I hope in the future I would like to improve and thus achieve a better time, even so, thanks for the warning.
