Movie information

About this game and movie

Miss Paint is a game developed by Twice Twice studios for the Bigmode Game Jam of 2023.
This movie aims to complete all 16 levels of the game.

Game version

There are 3 game version: The Game Jam version, the Demo, and the full release (which isn't out yet). I decided to TAS the game jam version because not only are the levels unique from the demo (and consequently unique from the full release), but since the full release isn't out yet, TASing the demo would feel pointless.

Tricks and Glitches

Corner jump
When moving to a corner, sometimes Miss Paint will start her walking animation, and you can jump during this animation, which sometimes saves time if you have to jump immediately.
Reset jumping
If you reset, you either end up in the beginning of the level or the last tool block you used. If you reset on the ground, you will be grounded when you reset, which is useful if the tool block you last used was in the air, meaning you could jump higher than normal.
Zip
When touching a really thin platform vertically, you will sometimes slightly clip through it, which either softlocks you or teleports you to one of the edges.
Finishing the last level
If you touch a green object, you complete a level and a "you win" pop up appears that asks you to press "ok" to continue to other stages. The interesting thing is that the level completion is saved when this happed, not when you press "ok", meaning I didn't have to press it on the final level, saving some frames.

Times saves

File Explorer
When you press "ok" after completing a level, you will be taken to random places, either the desktop, the world select folder, or the level select folder of the level's world you just played, and it seems to be unmanipulable. If I always got the best result, it would save many frames (roughly 30 frames)
Zip abuse
I didn't use zips intentionally, but I probably could've used it in order to zip when it would be beneficial.

Level-by-level commentary

World 1

My_First_Level.png
Normal movement, however the last jump has like a 5 frame window in order to save an extra frame.
Rectangle.png
Here we learn how to use the rectangle tool, besides that this level is pretty simple.
Copy.png
Here we learn how to use the copy tool, I just copy a tiny speck of the geometry in order to complete the level, which doesn't save time, but it looks cool.
tower.png
Here we learn how to use the move tool in order to destroy the Eiffel Tower. The movement is normal.
blue.png
Blue paint can't be moved, but there's some black paint which allows me to complete the level.
Rotate.png
Here we learn how to use the rotate tool, which is pretty self explanatory, I use it to complete the level (if you're wondering, moving on downward slopes does not save time).
Resize.png
Here we learn how to use the resize tool, which I don't need to do, the gaps are just small enough to allow me to cross them with just jumping, this is mostly due to Miss Paint's absurd coyote time
Reach for the Sky.png
Light blue paint is just like blue paint, but you can cross it, that's all that there is about to say about this level.

World 2

topShelf.png
This is the first level with two tools. I have to jump to the bottom shelf because I can't get enough height to reach the top shelf.
baskte_ball.png
I use the move tool to destroy the basket, allowing me to complete the level.
wow_look_a_dollar.png
I use the copy tool to create a kind of "stair" which allows me to complete the level. Surprisingly, I did not have to slow down.
touch grass.png
I use the copy tool in order to create a platform that allows me to cross to the other side of the chasm. This is the exact same level as Reach for the Sky, but with the copy tool in a different place.
bulletlevel7.png
You're supposed to use the tool in order to complete this stage, but you can actually just do a frame-perfect jump to barely touch the gun.

World 3

cellinthesky.bmp
While it's possible to beat this stage while only using the resize tool, using the rotate tool to rotate the left half of the square saves about 10 frames, I also rotate it in a way that allows me to corner jump on the bottom part of the smaller half, saving an extra 20 frames (if you're wondering, corner jumping on the top part of the smaller half is useless because you can't jump to the top part of the bigger half). Also, there's a zip in the top part of the smaller half, but it didn't save time.
digSite.png
In this stage, I use a reset jump in order to avoid having to use the second tool.
topShelf2.png
Practically the same level as topShelf.

Thanks
Special thanks to user Hackakat for suggesting strategies on some level, and everyone else who supported me throughout the making of this TAS.
