I had looked through that list a couple of weeks ago. Is there anything on there that particularly stands out to you? I'd love to find a way to live TAS one of the level-ending glitches but I don't know if I can be that precise in the short window I have. I'll keep experimenting...

I don't know how difficult it is to execute the game ending bug. I only know stage clear bug found by finalfighter can take days to brute force by script. I was thinking if you show off basic TASing to a crowd in 5 mins, maybe you should keep it simple. Show that jumping across a ledge is faster than walking off it, and that walking is faster than jumping (and show the speed address to explain it). That wouldn't really show off what makes TAS so special though, but it shows that you can achieve optimal play and how TASes are made (by rewinding over and over).

I put a sample of the ACE in Gutsman Stage. This movie uses 2P input. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/184346851/Rockman_Gutsman_ACE_test.fm2 The input of 2P is necessary to appoint an object and a position generated with DoubleObjectFFGlitch in GutsmanStage.

Huh, that's interesting! Is this true ACE, as in would it be possible to execute input from the controller ports, or is it just a credits glitch? I'm amused that the sound keeps repeating forever. :)

I like where this is going. It seems we're getting some extra graphical stuff in the screen this time (see the greenish area).

If i'm doing a TAS of Mega Man, can I do one where it's just the robot masters?

Is there any good reason to do only the Robot Masters?
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. If you want to. :) However, it might be not suitable for TASVideos. It might be better on youtube only or on the forum only. Have fun doing the TAS. :)

Link to video I accidentally in a Chinese video web site to see this video, I put this video on YouTube, this player is playing on the game platform, so there is no fm2 file. I hope it is useful.

I did some tests in real time and interestingly enough I was able to make game to reset and make Mega Man's speed to speed up for the rest of the screen, so that video is not a fake one. I'm just curious to know what's so different in that place because you can do things like that in real time, still not easily though. It's known you need a place where screens are connected and it seems that's exactly a place for that. This might help speedrunners quite a bit if they succeed well in that place :) In our current run and in this stage we acquire magnet beam and perform DelayStageClear in the beginning so this won't help there. EDIT1. Okay, after fiddling for a while I triggered something I've never seen with this game before. Mega Man zips like crazy in the air and in the end game just resets itself. Here's my .fm2 file, http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1714594882/rmtest.fm2 EDIT2. Oh right, this was already used back in 2014 or so among the speedrunners, so this wasn't anything new. I must've hit my head somewhere because I was unable to remember anything about this. Here are couple of players who used it in the past but soon credits glitch based runs beat these off the map. http://www.twitch.tv/nudua/v/49043770 http://www.twitch.tv/cartinacow/v/7787944

>Shinryuu Hello, I also found something interesting: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/29294725210509557 Link to video Bingo! I try many times, I found it also produces other enemy gibberish, I found the same as your test, reset the number of times the game is the most. Thank you for your stay twitch url, I imitate the video test. I'm surprised I succeeded! And there are two kinds of results. EDIT1. The map is good: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/29298931173734691 EDIT2. The map is wrong (in this video's 1:57): http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/download/29298944779686570

I think TASers already know about this since I made a video about this 2 years ago but I wanted to make this more known since it's an interesting technique. If you press B+Up or Down for 1 frame on a ladder you grab the ladder but you keep your vertical momentum. So when you pause/unpause (or bring up the menu) you let go of the ladder but keep moving upwards if you were moving up before grabbing the ladder. This can be used through screentransitions to save some ladderclimbing. The unfortunate thing about it later in the run is that it wastes a magnet beam since you have to shoot, but it might still be worth it to do in certain places such as Wily 1 first screen after the zip. A video I made just now to showcase what you could do for a zipless run in Cut Man. Link to video The old video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03RVVaVhNWo

I know this must be a silly question, but I couldn't find the answer elsewhere: Why do TASes all begin at Elecman instead of Cutman like Coolkid (biggyboy)'s RTA runs? I looked up the current TAS and no special weapon is used in Cutman stage except for the boss fight, and I find beating Cutman with regular shots much faster than Elecman. Edit: Thanks, AngerFist. How stupid of me. I thought Mega Man was born with the blue tape thing (Magnet Beam).

We start of with Elecman to get Magnet beam. As you know, it let's you do crazy stuff like zipping left and/or right.

Not sure if this is known or not but I found it on accident tonight. I was able to get Wily to spawn before the refights in Wily 4. Sometimes it resets when he spawns, sometimes hardlocks, or it keeps you stuck in the ceiling like the clip. It would be a big save RTA if you were somehow able to actually fight him from before the refights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn2h4S8OT78

Flash or original cart?

That was on Powerpak, I can try it on cart but it was consistent on Powerpak and Everdrive, not a weird one off flash cart glitch like I've seen before

Is it as consistent when you record it in something like NESHawk, which is known to be super accurate? If you succeed, others will be able to fully debug it.

As a small note, I can confirm spawning the wily like this works on both JP and US versions of the cart.

It's known. I do remember seeing something similar on FinalFighter's page which haven't been updated for ages. I also refreshed my memory and tried that out because I was curious. At least I have no idea how do you get out of the ceiling. It seems to freeze or reset quite often. I can confirm this is legit. Here's the video I'm talking about http://yuko2ch.net/rockman/rockmanw4.mpg I think this is recorded back in famtasia days. This video demonstrates what happens when you kill Bombman though. Bombman appears normally when you enter a teleportation machine as well.

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/44988607938034213 Here is a partial re-sync of the TAS in BizHawk. I ran into some trouble towards the end of Ice man stage as a bird spawned that wasn't there in the original and I oculdn't get a good zip. Maybe someone who actually knows how to TAS mega man can do better. The good news is that Both BizHawk and Mesen agree that this is exactly what happens, which means they agree to a single instruction. This gives me high confidence that a console verification will work.

I'm aware of this. Our attempt we performed years ago is still 47,3 seconds, 2838 frames faster.
