Ganbare Goemon Ooedo Daikaiten is a PSX action game released in 2001, the game type is similar to SNES
Goemon 2 and N64
Goemon's Adventure.
There are 4 characters you can choose, Yae and Sasuke move faster than Goemon and Ebisumaru, Sasuke's attack is not good
as Yae's and he dashes slower than Yae under water, so I never chose him. Holding attack makes character move faster, jump attack lose a few frames that should be avoided. In most stages, the strategy is for Yae to ran forward, while another one killed enemies, unless I need both Goemon and Ebisumaru's speciel abillity. There is a town in every areas that need a pass to leave, I must complete the NPC's request or play mini game to get it.
In the run I killed character to save time, they will float in the air after they died, saved a lot of travel time. I also found heroes have small chance to through spike rock in water stage that saved sometime. There is a town only double jump trick that I showed in the run, but I don't think it is useful.
I did a lot of test on killing heroes, evaluate how much time can be saved. I bought 2 extra lives and used game over-continue once to get enough lives, too bad the game loading time is too long which makes the plan effective is not good as I expectation, but overall it is still saved some seconds than normal run.
About the robot fight, I think speedy punch x 2 + 3 punch kick + laser is the best choice.
eien86: Ganbare Goemon is an action/platform game for the PSX deeply embedded in Japanese cultural references. The author of this movie controls two players to beat the game as fast as possible, faster than the
previous (cancelled) submission for the same category. Although not entirely a fair comparison, the execution is also much faster than the current
RTA WR, which uses a single player.
I did not observe any evident suboptimality, as this movie seems overall well executed.
Accepting to Standard, "2 players" goal
