Game Objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.11
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes intentional damage

Info

  • Both A and Start can be used to skip textbox and other events, Start can be used on textboxes to skip all of it, while A goes through the dialogue. In some cases, Start cannot be used to skip a scene, for whatever reason.
  • Combat encounters can be triggered based on time elapsed before the room loaded, or by hitting a trigger in the room, or both. The timer can be refreshed by flashing the inventory screen, so if the trigger for the encounter can be avoided, the entire encounter can be skipped.
  • Rooms can take different time thant others to load, so it's possible to save some frames by using the inventory in rooms that take less to load.

Route

First we need to get into the mansion, to do so we need to collect a key, which is collected at 01:18.847, which doesn't fit the door in the mansion, but does open a shed which stores a crowbar and garden gloves, and with the crowbar we can actually enter the mansion.
Inside the mansion, we pick up another key to use in a door to unlock the rest of the mansion, before that tho, we go and talk to Charles Fiske, who is on a mirror, and asks us to go an pic up an amulet to help him remember. The amulet doesn't appear unless we talk to Fiske.
Then, we go and unlock a door to access the library, in order to get yet another key.
Along the way to it, we have to pick up some papers and read them to let Carnby know there's a mechanism he could interact with at the top of the library.
After doing so, we now have a blue key, whith it we can access yet another section of the mansion. Along the way to the door the blue key opens, we go and pick up a shotgun, without a reload mechanism.
After going through the rooms, we pick up Fiske's Amulet, plus a brass key that opens the attic, we need to go up there to collect the shotgun reload mechanism, but to make sure Carnby knows that first Fiske has to told him after giving him the amulet. Along the way there we also have to go to a room to turn on the light of the stairs to the attic, since otherwise Carnby won't want to go up them.
After giving Fiske his amulet, his mind is now clearer, and tells us that Morton, killed him, and sends us to find the shotgun reload mechanism up in the attic.
After going up there and getting it, it's only available after giving Fisk the amulet, we get a textbox with Fiske, who's talking through the amulet, and tells Carnby he must kill Morton. This allows Carnby to find a box of doorknobs in the attic which we use to exit the mansion from the basement.
Now in the basement, we go gather a bag of grey powder, which is then used in a golden statue to turn it grey, which opens a secret compartiment, somehow, with another key. Wich is used to go from the basement to the sewers.
In this area there's green tentacles that deal 1 hp, not too much, so Carnby goes right through if necessary.
In the room at 07:29.710, those grey tubes are some big tentacle monster that instakills you, so it's important to not touch them.
Now outside the sewers, we move forwards and reach some kind of Stonehenge, in it the bossfight with Morton happens, but it can be skipped by flashing the inventory to reset the encounter timer, after it, we reach a castle, which we enter by climbing on some vines thanks to the gardening gloves we just equipped.
After taking a stroll through the castle we exit it from the back, and take a detour to the left to pick up a skeleton key, and then go to the secret lab. Right below the door to the lab there's a crossbow with 15 ammo, which we pick up. Picking up the crossbow resets the items equipped, which is why the skeleton key wasn't equipped before. The crossbow also does 3x the pistol damage and has no long animation, like the shotgun.
Inside the lab we take a detour to pick up more crossbow ammo, since it's pretty much needed to not end up with no ammo, and running around in a combat encounter to pick up the ammo would take longer.
Now inside the lab we need to cut the power to an electric field to go through a dorway, so first the gloves are used to switch off the generator, and then go left to pick up an explosive to blow up the energy source. Which switches of the electrical door and lets us enter some ruins.
In the ruins, the crowbar is used to move a rock to open up a door. In that room specifically there's another combat encounter that is skipped by flashing the inventory. This one is kind of lucky that it works, because the physical trigger is almost blocking the entrance, and it really helps with streamlining the ammo route.
Going deeper and deeper through the ruins, we find a teleporter, to go even deeper through the ruins, into some tunnel maze, but before that we find some dynamite.
Here, we need to follow a specific path until we find an orb that lightens up the path to the exit of the maze. Just following the path the orb would direct you to isnt enough to complete the maze.
Now, going even deeper into the alien cave, we find some statue that emits light, wchich we blow up with the dynamite and the lighter Carnby had from the start. This then weakens a force field around another statuatte, which is the one we actually want. After lighting up the dynamite and escaping, btw, there's a spot where the TAS goes back and forth a room, this is because it skips a long animation of the whole screen shaking from the TNT dynamite.
After taking the statuette we are transported to a locked room in the mansion, which we can escape from with the skeleton key.
In or way to exiting the mansion, Fiske tells us, through the amulet, that Morton still lives, so we fight him on the way to the exit. He's supposed to teleport around until he stops and lets you hit him, but he's always vulnerable so after spamming the rest of our crossbow ammo and some pistol ammo, he's dead, and he stroll to the end.

CoolHandMike: Claiming for judging.
CoolHandMike: Author clearly knows the way and what items to pickup. The action scenes are over in seconds do to ultra fast shooting as well. Optimization looks good.
Accepting to Standard.
Good job!
