A completely optimized run we do not need! All we're saying is that we want to see a 100% run, even if it's nor perfect. To Nicovideo!

you understood the purpose of TASing yet, right?

it would be basicly a 4 hour TAS project. but not just that, the time it takes to plan such a run is already ridicolus. it took me and slowking already months to plan the any% run (bomb uses etc.)
it doesn't have to be so insanely perfect. i made a 6.5 hour long golden sun 2 TAS a few years ago, and it only took a few weeks to plan and make.

You may not care if the TAS is perfect, but it's not your opinion that matters. The TASer wants to make as good of a run as he can, and is willing to devote the necessary time. Telling him to be fast and sloppy is not going to change his mind. (Try getting ComicalFlop to stop worrying about lag frames sometime)

IIRC, kafei's quest is set up in such a way that sequence breaks can't really be made and an entire extra 3 day cycle is needed. There's just not enough time in between the kafei stuff to do the entirety of the rest of 100%. Petrie is this correct?
It actually takes 3 cycles to get everything. One for the All-Night Mask (getting this precludes you from completing the Kafei Quest), one for Madame Aroma's bottle, and one for the Postman's Hat (the last 2 both need the priority mail to get, but you can only give it to one of them). There doesn't seem to be any way around this. Either you'd need to be able to get the priority mail while still stopping Sakon, or you'd need to find a way to give priority mail to both the Postman and Madame Aroma in the same cycle.

I know that more cycles are needed. I mean, make a cycle to beat a big part of the game. the rest in another two cycles

iirc kafei's quest would require 2 whole cycles for 100%. one to get postman's hat, and one to get the extra bottle from kafei's mom. correct me if i'm wrong, however
Well you are kinda correct. Kafeis quest itself only requires 2 cycles. But if you get the blast mask, sakon won't pawn the bomb bag, kafei won't see him doing it and the quest is over. Which means kafeis quest foreces you to do at least 3 cycles in 100% (4 if you count the deku cycle).

It’s very difficult to optimize the run on 3D game and mupen is unbelievably desynchable unlike other emulators such as fceu or snes9x. These things prevent making 100% run, I think. It will take much time that seems an eternity to make perfectly optimized 100% run. So I’d rather see nearly perfect run, but it will make expert TASers disappointed. Of course, it shouldn’t be submitted nor accepted.

There is no active zelda TASer on nicovideo as far as I know. It won’t come out even on the site.

Majora's Mask beaten in 1:53:33 (real time, on a console) by Jiano (with commentary from several Zelda experts): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi4Ev0AVsNg Really good run, and shows a lot of what will be in the TAS when it's done.

Majoras Mask has a crooked cadrigde trick. When you power on the console the screen with language select will appear and after the intro you will die, because you haven't hearts. You have 50 ocarinas from the beginning, no graphical error, but you don't have sword and shield. Your name is always 00000. I'm not kidding! I'm serious!

The starting condition aren't legit, so despite freerun I doubt this is very intersthing. Also, might be pointless as well but I just thought about an another good use to don't talk right away with the salesman at the bombshop. So while waiting/enterain us for the walking guy(instead to press "A" near the table and wait for him anyway) the in-game keep working, this means there possbly less time to wait for the 6hour counter popup, by the end of the run.

It would be an entertaining novelty if any emulators supported the effects of 'crooked cartridging'

re: who discovered ISG i looked through some of the really old posts in the sda OoT topic a few weeks ago and it looked like kazooie was the first person to post a video of it in that thread. it's funny looking back because everyone was like "okay cool but i don't see how this is useful"

you can actually get a crooked cartridge effect in project64 if you load a save state for example from a different version of the game.

iirc the ISG was discovered by a japanese person who had nothing to do with SDA. He posted a video on youtube about it and eventually it was found by... someone. I forget who. Thread is here: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/ocarina_of_time__all_categoriesn64.html

sorry i didn't hit this thread back sooner, was in the middle of a bomb/gunman threat at work. http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/oot_n64_segmented__24_completed104.html#oot_n64_segmented__24_completed104 i can't figure out how to get the damn link to not go to my useless post, but most of the talk on that page is about how it could be used for seam-walking to shadow temple or if it would be feasible to use against bosses e: kazooie claims to have discovered it before the youtube video was posted, but i dunno

public library. basically what happened was some dude went to the police station and lit his truck on fire in the parking lot. his truck had ammo in it which started going off, which it's assumed he hoped people would go outside because of it. he then opened fire on the police station. in the press conference they say he fired off over 100 shots. he died in the ensuing chaos, but it's unknown if he killed himself or if one of the cops firing on him got the last shot in. his truck had a trailer attached to it, in it was a bomb made from the same materials as the one used in the oklahoma city bombings. thank god that thing didn't go off, my library is a few miles away from the police station but i'm sure we would have felt it. pretty much the whole city was on lockdown, mainly because about an hour before this shooter did his thing there was apparently another person who fired shots at the local community college (right across the street from the police department) who was never caught. any city ran places were basically on lockdown, no one in, no one out, for like 2 hours.
