Actually, yes it would--you still have to get into the door that appears once Wart is off the screen. ...though this sounds like a glitch I used to do with a Game Genie invincibility code. You'll get the same effect by running into Wart, while invincible, while his mouth is open. :p

Even if it is not faster, it's still cool to add in the movie. I haven't tested it but I will. Edit: Oh, if you reproduce it and post the FCM, it will be even better.

I have been to Davids page many times (Just trying to find out this SMB2 thing) and he has what originally happens when you go to level 1. Mine went up a level into an underground level. I have not yet to pull it off again.
I know it can be frustrating to not be able to perform the same trick again. I had similar experience with SMB3 (NES), in one of the desert level, I was trying to break a brick as I've done many hundred times... but strangely, after the brick above breaks, where Mario lands turns from the normal sand floor into a "musical note" block, and then Mario automatically jumps flyings (to the top) off the screen as if he's entering some "bonus game". Instead, Mario lands on a screen where I can see all of the "secret rooms" but can't enter any of them. Mairo is free to roam with no door/pipe to enter and eventually runs out of time. I have not hear/read anyone has seen this. I can't even do it the second time. I have to conclude that must be some random glitch in the game. And you might have to make the same conclusion with SMB2.

Maybe a memory corruption from some kind of radiation?

Or some dust in the cartridge or NES system...?

I glitched mine on an emulator and it has never happened again. Also, for a new smb2 warpless, I would recommend that you try and use the "ladder glitch" on every ladder the character comes across. Only a suggestion

The SMB3 (NES) glitch that I saw was on the NES console many years ago (back when SMB3 was released only few weeks). I guess it could be dust in the cartridge or NES console. I clearly remember that I didn't reset or power down the console and try to reproduce it and I can't. Maybe it has to do with breaking the bricks in certain order or maybe I did something along the way to cause the glitch. I will try to get a screenshot of where this had happened if anyone is interested. For any glitches in emulators, I would that it should be reproducible. If you happened to have a recording, you can always go back and replay it and see what keys were pressed, it's time consuming but it should be doable. However, if there's recording, it's difficult (or near impossible) to reproduce it. Of course, there are always other factors too... i.e. bad hardware, memory.

Hey ppl, for my first post, I'm wondering if anyones interested in making a Super Mario 2 run using the weakest character: Mario the whole time. I've seen the previous run where the guy uses Toad, Luigi and Peach, but are you ppl interested in my run? If so I will start to make it. I'm not rly good at the game but if anyone does it better...go ahead.

Hi Xpenguin, and welcome. People here, as a general rule, does not like runs where you impose some artificial limitation to make the run harder. This is especially the case if the run would not be significantly more entertaining and interesting, as I think the case would be here. There are plenty of other runs people would like to see done which you could do for your first run, if you are interested.

Truncated, I don't get what you mean by "artificial imagination" and I'm not trying to make a competing run. I just wanna make (as said this websites purpose) another movie that some people will find interesting to watch.

Ok. Great.

Well, couldn't it obsolete the Princess-only run?

>Truncated, I don't get what you mean by "artificial imagination" ... That makes two of us then. That I have no idea what I meant by it is probably because I didn't write it. >I just wanna make ... another movie that some people will find interesting to watch. And I'm saying that I think that most people probably will not find it interesting. That's just my speculation, but you wanted opinions.

I will not find it entertaining. I also think the princess-only run shouldn't be on the site. But if we keep a princess only run, I see no reason to exlude a mario-only, toad-only, or luigi-only run.

I think a Mario-only run would be appropriate just because he hasn't really been used in any speed runs here yet. And hey, he's the title character! But maybe it's not necessary.

Truncated, LOL I meant "artificial limitation." What did you mean by that? My mistake, heh, read the disclaimer in my signature, maybe i AM high right now :D Anyway, I was just wondering that if I made the run, would it be accepted for submition? I have no idea how the system here works, but I assume if anyone wants it, that's good enough.

Sounds like Bag just made a coherent statement that actually added to the converstion O_o ;p You make a good point about mario hardly being in the other movies. If there were any reason to have this run, it would be because of that. I am still not convinced the run should be published. I would most likely vote no for this run. BTW, shouldn't this thread be moved to the smb2 thread or renamed to: Super Mario 2 USA Mario only run?

Mario might not be in the SMB2 runs, but he is in the SMB, one of the SMB2j, both SMB3, both SMW, both SDW, SMW2, Donkey Kong, Punch Out, the main image of TASvideos, Super Metroid, Power Blade, Ninja Five-O, and probably Contra if you look for long enough.

>What did you mean by that? By an "artificial limitation" I mean a restriction that you place on yourself without there really being any need for it. Such as "I will never use this or that weapon" or "I will get all coin boxes". >Anyway, I was just wondering that if I made the run, would it be accepted for submition? You can submit it, and people will vote for it. If it is generally liked, it will be accepted for publication (encoded into AVI).

I'm against Mario run. Truncated has pretty much summed up why.

I like different kind of runs, but I don't feel that a Mario only run would bring anything new to the table.

Yeah, and Kitsune said he would like to see fullruns with each 4 characters.

That sounds "artificial limitation" too, so I'm against it too... No offence to you.
