Yeah, to pick up or not to pick up weapon power-ups is my biggest worry. daibakusho_curry's movie had a lot miss shots and Truncated's movie blew a lot ammo on floating enemy (stage 9) so I never could tell how much ammo I needed. I guess I should start looking up RAM on boss's health. Oops, I shall fix 3rd boss part. Next WIP coming later.

Uh, wait, can't you use the values that are already on the screen?

You can, in most cases. It does however have a maximum decrease rate which you go higher than when using phoenix and sometimes under other circumstances. And the boss's real health has actually a higher resolution than what's shown on the screen. Memory adress for boss health: 00FF8200, 2 bytes. I think it works for everything that fills up the boss health bar, thereby including subbosses.

Hi, Sonikkustar. Yes, I am working on this again, after a year-long break for Castlevania Bloodlines. After a restart on the (J) version (previous one was on (E), in 50Hz), it is now up to the boss of the 19th stage, the big bird. Since this project has been drawn out a lot, I understand that people are getting tired of waiting. If you feel like trying it yourself I do not mind, I can post times for comparison if you like.

Oh! Well, I was tired of waiting and started on a run but since you said you were working on it I'll stop now. This is what I had:http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1961442119/Alien%20Soldier%20TAS.gmv

Sonikkustar: Nice. Yours is only 2 frames slower when the boss starts. Since the scroll is pretty easy to optimize, I'm guessing this is either from lag or the intro. I didn't investigate it further.

Watching the 1st place speed run of this and putting down some ideas, so they are available if anyone ever improves this. It appears there are more places you can use the turn-around trick, to put the boss closer to the edge of the screen for more Phoenix damage. The one that was most apparent was Madam Barber, the giant crab of stage 5, but every boss should be checked for this. Another possibility that could be investigated (if going for real time) is to pick up barely any weapon refills. (The in-game timer freezes while getting them, so it doesn't cost in-game time.) This would lead to less time spent picking up refills but more weapon switching later in the run.
