First movie ever. Definately not my best runthough, but I need a time to beat. Uses two tricks: jumping through sparky guy on electric level (top layer), and jumping backwards to get to rope faster on level 2.

I'm afraid I'll have to go no here. The vines weren't handled all that well, and that's the biggest issue I have. No frame advancing in a situation that calls for it. I was capable of completing the first level nearly two seconds faster; by the third it was three seconds (I never got beyond that). Not a half bad start, however. I've seen worse. Better luck in the future, though.

ditto, this seems to be a good rough draft but should be redone. This can certainly be done faster the 65 re-records is rather low even for a minute long movie.

I think it looks good, but if Ferret Warlord can beat it, I'd like to see an improved run first. Also, shouldn't you be using Game B to play at the highest difficulty level?

Actually, it's been sitting at the 45 second mark for a few months now. A single blue spark was VERY incoveniently placed in hard mode, and I just kind of halted when I came upon it.

I will say that I'm pleased to see this run attempted. Super old games, like Donkey Kong, may only last a few minutes, but it's a great trip down memory lane. I certainly salute the effort. Along with games like Pacman/Ms. Pacman and Galaga, some of my fondest gaming memories are of these Donkey Kong games (but that's a different thread).

Hmm... I started a Galaga speedrun some time ago. Thing is, the game doesn't end. Perhaps play until the game breaks after level 255? But that would get boring because the levels repeat. As for this game, hmm.....

Ferret Warlord recently beat the time by over twenty seconds, but he doesn't want to mention it for fear of scaring Ozort off. BUT I JUST DID!! HA HA HA, HA HA HA HA!!!

As I said, I knew there were a lot of places where I lost time. I'm curious as to how you beat the first part a full second faster though, unless my path isn't as good. This movie only took about an hour and a half to make, and the first 45 minutes were trying to figure out how the movie controls worked (i was having a lot of trouble resuming movies from where they left off). I only even bothered submitting this one since nobody had a submission for it yet, and I love the game and wanted to see a time attack on it. Ferret Warlord: Can I get a copy of your time attack? I want to see how you did it. Also, whats "frame advancing", and what about my vine handling was done badly? Thanks for your input!

"Frame advance" is a function that allows you to advance one frame at a time in the game. One second is 60 frames in a NES game, which means that when you're using frame advance you have much more control over your actions in the game. Franme advance is a really helpful tool in almost every situation when making a TAS. To use frame advance, pause the emulator and press the button for frame advance. You can find all the map hotkeys under "map hotkeys" in the top menu bar :) But you are right ozort, this is a good game and should have a movie on this site IMO, even if it's a very short movie. But in that case, the movie should be really good, and this movie can really be improved. A first try though. Better luck next time! :) Oh, and I think that if Ferret Warlord made a movie that is over 20 seconds faster, then why not submit it?

At what point do the levels start repeating? Maybe just a run up to that point, as with Excite Bike, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and any other games that repeat? I'd definitely like to see it. I started a Galaga speedrun, but figuring out what frame to fire in order to hit each enemy as quickly as possible without any missed shots threatened to do permanent damage to my sanity.
