http://bmgcl.emuxhaven.net/n64mgcl/N64ConfigList.htm The list is mostly true for actually runs in Mupen, except for the known ones like Gauntlet Legends, DK64, Blast Corps. On another note, O.D.T. Escape... ...Or Die Trying would be interesting to see even though it's a piece of garbage.

Not so much my wishlist but a big list of potential games to TAS. It is true I have not played most of these games, but odds are anyone browsing through is gonna see at least one they recognize, and the hope is someone will get inspiration and attempt a TAS of one on this list.

Odds are that someone browsing through will see something and want to run it, eh? Why didn't you just compile a list of all N64 games into a txt file and link to it? I don't want to be confrontational, but I can't really wrap my head around the idea of just posting a bunch of games in a list like that.

I'm going to take a post here to justify Hexen a bit more thoroughly: Initially there isn't anything that looks deeper than Doom, but the game has very large and complex levels and a couple of different features. In particular this game was the first to allow the player to hold items and use them later. There are also different character classes... if using the fighter (fastest and usually the strongest), you have only short range weapons for half of the game, which makes the combat quite a bit less trivial than Doom (etc). Another innovation new to FPSes in this game was co-op play. Imagine someone doing a TAS of this game with a party of four? It would be absolutely incredible to see the various characters (including different classes!) moseying around hitting all switches and collecting items in an efficient manner, then teaming up to beat the bosses. That would be an absolutely AMAZING run. I don't know how Mupen would feel about that right now, though. Regarding the items that can be held, there is one that allows you to fly freely (but is only gained near the end of each group of stages, therefore probably not very useful), one that doubles your walking speed (finding the optimal place to use this would be interesting, as well as finding when it's worthwhile to go out of your way to acquire), one that offers several seconds of invulnerability, and one that teleports you to the level's entrance. There are a lot of optimizations that would make the run less trivial/predictable and exciting. Keen use of the Disc of Repulsion would also be pretty cool to see. In regular play, this game takes a few hours to get through and explore. As a TAS I'd expect it to be about 45 minutes at a quick estimate. With multiple players acting optimally and independently I have no idea how fast it could be.

I wonder which of these games are expansion pack and which aren't, because I've noticed generally expansion pack equates with desynching, so maybe those can be first to remove (or at least mark) from list...

Expansion pack is that extra memory that came with.... Majora's Mask was it?

yeah, i notice that many games use it, and most/all that do desynch frequently. or maybe it's the controller pak, can't remember... it's one of those

Virtual chess would be an interesting game to TAS, especially if you used a chess engine to assist you.

i looked at that and you can change how quickly the opponent responds, you cannot however get rid of the annoying animation that comes after any pieve is taken plus I suck at chess, I couldn't even beat the comp on easiest mode

I was actually pretty good at it, and I also have some of the best chess programs out there. If you used these programs to assist you in making a TAS of virtual chess, would it count as a "Tool-Assisted TAS?" :)

moreso than Kirby? hehe, I appreciate the positive thought... I dunno, I could move those chess pieces pretty fast, and beating the hardest setting would look impressive, even if you did use chess programs to help. Maybe Virtual Pool is better?

I'll attempt it, even though I don't know how to record from savestates in Mupen, and that it would have a high chance of being rejected for non-existent entertainment. Oh well, everybody has to start small.
