Sorry, but I'm a newbe at TASes, but I have been watching speedruns for a year now. My Visual Boy Advance won't load those movies. It says it'll load VisualBoyAdvance Movie files, but it can't see VBA files. What's the problem?

You need the version of VBA that's here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2050&start=0 (It's directly above this topic you just made... And I assume you meant VBM files, not VBA files.)

When I go to the play option, the "start playing video" is blocked out.

You have to open the ROM first. The video is just input that is fed into the game, so it can't work unless the game is running first. (I suppose it could guess which ROM to open for you, but it doesn't do that.)

It's says how on this page specifically, at the top: http://tasvideos.org/VBM.html "The ROM" means the game file with the same name as the one listed as "Filename of the ROM used" on the description page of the movie you are trying to watch. You have to get it yourself; you won't find it here.

I read that page before. http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=368 That is the video I want to watch. So what should the description be?

First, where it says: "Read author's comments in submission #723" You click on the "submission #723" to see the description. Now you see "Filename of the ROM used" on the left. In this case it says "rs-dbaa.gba", and in this case that's not much help because it's an abbreviation, so instead, use the Game name, Dragon Ball Advance Adventure, and notice that the Game version says Japan. In other words, you need a ROM called "Dragon Ball - Advance Adventure (J)" to play that movie. Once you have it, open it in VBA and then play the movie.

I need help really badly. I have the exact same ROM that was used in Biospark's 100% Metroid Fusion run, and still it doesn't work. I have VBA version 1.7.2 and 1.8.3 beta, but it still doesn't work!

To run movies, you need the re-recording version of VBA, the normal one won't work. The movie you want to play needs v19.3. Find it here: http://www.bluetoaster.net/emu/all.htm

I downloaded the v19.3, but whatever I try to do it doesn't work. Does the .vbm file need to be the same name as the .gba file?

To run movies, first load the ROM. Then go to Tools -> Play -> Start playing movie... In that window, select Browse and find the .vbm file, then press the OK button and it will start playing.

Done all that, still no dice. The only files my VBA plays is .vmv files by the looks of it.

You may have downloaded v19.3, but you're not using it. make sure you're opening "vba-rerecording.exe", not "VisualBoyAdvance.exe". If you don't have vba-rerecording.exe, try getting v19.3 and trying again.

I am using 19.3, the file is called "vba-rerecording-19 3.exe". When I load the ROM, I go to "Tools->Play", but the option for "Start Playing Movie" is grayed out.

I think the option is grayed out because you haven't loaded the ROM. Before trying to play the movie, go to File -> Open ROM and select the ROM the movie needs.

Even when I load the ROM it is still grayed out. I know what I will do. I will make a video of me doing said things, and someone can point out where I went wrong. I will upload it to rapidshare as soon as I get around to it, and give the link here.
