Check this out. Has anyone else seen this yet? Looks like it would be really cool, but the link at Joystiq isn't working...

Sadly, read the comments. It's not a NES hack, it's a PC game that resembles FF2j and FFX. I doubt it could be TASed, even if it is a neat idea.

It's not, though. I followed one of the links in the comments and there are indeed "test" NES roms that were being worked on. One even had the music and circle of friends that is in the intro to FFX. I think someone who was looking at the Japanese site and just saw the link "PC" but it is definitely for the NES... I just can't find the finished product. :(

Neither can I, or anyone else it seems. Which makes me even more skeptical. Hoaxes like this have popped up before, so I wouldn't be too surprised.

Nope, it looks like it's still very much a work in progress. From what (very little) Japanese I know, it seems like this all started off with a picture or flash or something of the sort of a "FF10 for Famicom" posted on a famous message board (2ch), then a bunch of people with way too much free time on their hands decided to try to make it a reality. And while I'm as skeptical as the rest of you, never underestimate Japanese doujin authors with a silly idea to work with (as I recall, "Ragnarok Battle Offline" started off with a very similar premise).

True, it could become a reality, or close enough anyway. But the fact is it's not yet near completion, so posting about it on a forum for potential NES TASes is a tad premature. ;)

Well, supposedly according to the Joystiq article, it is finished and complete (with everything, including magic, limit breaks, blitzball...), but their link to the source of the article is down.
