Didn't expect to see you back Dashjump, but glad you are. Best of luck getting back into the groove for Knuxs endgame.

Ahh~ so you have risen again! Cool ^^ I tried to start the project myself, but cannot get it nor understand it... Trying to replicate things by visual video isn't so easy to do when things are done so precisely. Needless to say, I've given up on SA2...
Well, I've more or less forgotten most of the tricks I used too lol. I'll try uploading a few more WIPs here and request for some suggestions from you all. Hope it won't take too long to complete the full run.

341 frame faster Well... I watching the Qwerty's movie (currently rejected) I saw that MP2 has been improved for very bit and remembered I had a file that was the first zone (LF1) that I improve with 1 or 2 frames faster than the current movie published. This led to my inspiration to go ahead and I managed to get improvements in the first 3 zones (excluding bosses). For now I have this. And I'll follow him to finish it. I publish to be seen and if my absence I will have lost something I have not seen any improvement or, somebody is working this well. I leave here I hope not to lose the illusions that somebody does it first. I do not want my work and time disappear... Enjoy it

Hi everyone, Here's the final TAS of Knuckles in Sonic Advance 2: Link to video I originally wanted to submit the movie, but in a cruel twist of fate the vbm file mysteriously disappeared after I recorded and uploaded to youtube. All I have left now is an incomplete movie file up till XX Zone's Aero Egg, and honestly I can't find any motivation to redo the final parts. Hope you enjoy the TAS.

Great run. Shame about it not being able to be submitted. I hope after a break you do regain some motivation to finish it off again. Or failing that, at least posting what you do have so someone can maybe finish your work for a co authorship. Seems a bit of a waste considering how close a good run is to submission. Regardless I did enjoy it very much.

Wow. Was not expecting further significant time saves on this run. Best of luck on the rest of the project; looking forward to following it!

In my signature, is the process I've found a better way to optimize inputs and completion in each zone, unfortunately, delayed in-game time is: between 1.50 and 0.50 seconds But I assure you that I have improved in all zones. And possibly shortly be ready this movie

Dashjump, if you'd like, I could try to finish that incomplete WIP of Knuckles and send it to you. @Kiske: That's very unexpected! Hopefully you find full success in the improvement!

Did you try looking at Mukki's TAS with an input display in VBA? [1958] GBA Sonic Advance 2 by Mukki in 18:01.78 < this one.
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

I completely had trouble with my password, but I eventually found it. That's why I've been quite inactive recently. But, I haven't given up on Sonic Advance 2, or New Super Mario Bros. It's just that life gets in the way a lot! Anyway, I have been working on SA2, and discovered a new trick when Air Dashing onto loops (that I don't think any TASer has used before)! Using this, I have so far saved 6 frames from the area around the 3rd second of Mukki's record run in Leaf Forest Act 2. I was so happy when I achieved this, that I decided to do an Any% run as well as a 100% run for SA2. But progress hasn't been made much for both runs because, well life. I guess u could say that this is an update post because I haven't been on TASForums for so long, but I have the first W.I.P of the 100% SA2 uploaded on Youtube already (at 144p), so here's what I can show u guys. https://youtu.be/1PDu0xD1O8I Link to video

Looking good! I have not had chance to do a proper compare as I'm busy/lazy, but very interested to see what you can squeeze out of this as I was shocked at how well mukki improved Adva2. Already some surprises such as that bonkers routing in SP2 at about 22seconds that looks like it can't be faster, but I'm pretty sure you know what you're doing. And taking a re look after you pointed it out that wall clip in SP1 is great too.

Reviving this thread in the only way Sonic fans know: Disappointingly, after years of inactivity. How feasible would it be to implement the camhack directly into BizHawk like the oldschool camhack VBA? The Lua script works nicely and all, but it really, really doesn't get along with TAStudio whatsoever (major desync issues when it isn't just outright throwing up error messages or crashing BH altogether). I have no idea how difficult these camhack builds are to create, so apologies if I'm requesting something ridiculous here.

BizHawk's C# external tools interface is probably the direction to pursue. Also, some of those Lua issues should be fixed in the upcoming release. The desyncs, I'm not so sure, because I'm not sure where those would come from.

I imagine the desync issues come from how the script and TAStudio interact, since the script itself savestates, emulates two invisible frames ahead and then loadstates the original frame. It would likely desync in the same way if you rewind during traditional TASing since that also throws out errors/crashes. ...Now comes the time where I have to clarify that when I asked how feasible it was to do this, what I meant was "How bad should I feel when asking someone with actual coding knowledge to do it for me?" because I sure as hell don't know what I'm doing. If it's a huge amount of trouble, I can work around it (traditional TASing isn't that bad and is stable with the script, though I'm not confident in my ability to optimize that way), but if it's something that someone can knock out real easily then I figured it's worth embarrassing myself by begging.
