One of my friends asked me what she was saying, because he thought she was Chinese. I thinks she looks Japanese. I know a lot of you have some experience with the language. Anyone have any idea what she is saying?

<Boco_XLVII> ..what was the point of that?
<BagOfMagicFood> everything
<BagOfMagicFood> if we solve that mystery, the rest will fall
<Boco_XLVII> + why the Chinese / Japanese wondering if the filename says "korean" in it?
<BagOfMagicFood> That's the secret of the puzzle.
<Boco_XLVII> I thought the secret to the puzzle was why she bothered to wear clothes at all.
<BagOfMagicFood> yeah
<BagOfMagicFood> that's part of it
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster.
I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.
I had the sneaking suspicion someone would comment on that. Anyways, I didn't name or upload the file. Presumably whoever did thought she was Korean. The reason my friend thought she was Chinese is ... I don't know why. The reason I think she is Japanese is because I've lived in Asia and can tell Asians apart.
She looks like she's from the south China sea area. Could be a lot of things, but I don't think she's Japanese.
Just from the words she's mouthing, I'd guess she's a Filipina... then again, that could just as easily be English.
Korean could definitely fit, as well. I'm guessing the file has been passed around a fair bit? Could have been renamed from another character set, or something.
I can tell Chinese, Japanese, and Korean apart easily. The languages, that is. It would help if you could hear what she was singing.
Generally the people are very hard to tell apart (in my experience), except possibly for clothing, hairstyle and more than anything else mannerisms. And none of that really applies here...

Yes, nothing of concern, but I don't like to leave questions unanswered. Do you still have the video? Can you transcribe the sounds you think she is making at that point, or perhaps let one of the Japanophiles take a look at it?

Let me try to find it for you. Circulates on other forums rather frequently. And don't get your hopes up about this: it's a pretty dull movie of some random girl doing laundry and standing around.
Hello~
That woman's name is "Reon Kadena", and according to the profile on her website (http://www.kadenareon.net/profile/index.html) she was born in Osaka. Just to clear that up. ^^
You should google for a few more recent pictures, though, as the one in her profile seems to be quite old.
Welcome to japanese "idol movies". :D But, off-topicly. I'd rather watch her doing laundry for an hour than watching what's shown on TV nowadays.
Anyway. I'll try to get my hands on two of her latest idol movies, maybe the scene is in there. Just for the case that Zurreco may not find it, of course. Not because I think she's absolutely gorgeous and my favorite Japanese Idol. Nevah.

Honestly, I just want to know what she's saying. Let's keep all that ... whatever ... to a minimum at least until the actual intended purpose of this thread is fulfilled.
Xebra, it's seems to be four syllables long. It couldn't be all that important.
As for the vowels it seems to be 2 "ah"s or "oh"s an "ee" and an "eh"
I cannot tell the consonants very well.
Build a man a fire, warm him for a day,
Set a man on fire, warm him for the rest of his life.
Well, honestly. I don't generally make such comments, but I find this thread rather silly. I never understood why it was important to know what she was saying, and the gif file certainly isn't long enough to figure anything out, so I secretly suspected that the real purpose for the thread was to get people to look at the pretty girl. I figured, when in Rome...
TASing or playing back a DOS game? Make sure your files match the archive at RGB Classic Games.
Actually upon closer inspection there seems to only be two syllables uttered, the other two are just mirrors of the first. So what is she saying? Almost certainly not a complete sentance, and probably not even a complete word.
As for the name Reona, it's not very common, but it is a Japanese name.
Build a man a fire, warm him for a day,
Set a man on fire, warm him for the rest of his life.
It looked like, to me, she was saying something like "mata man" (the 'man' having an au sound), but that's just based on my reading of the girl's lips. I don't know if that means anything, but I'm probably wrong, anyway.
