So how did it save 35 frames?
Yeah I noticed that path error in your published movie but didnt want to tarnish your triumph :). At the bottom you can go either up-right or up-left, both of which have an effective speed of 2. Depending on your decision at the top you must go either left or right respectively (because of the geography) which have speeds of 2 and 1.5 respectively. Interesting enough if you've ever taken a topology course before you can think of the movement vectors as defining a distance function over a non-euclidean metric space. Understanding the shape of the circular regions you can then evaluate the distance between points to find the optimal path, which you did for the most part.

And once again TASing has turned into pure science and math. Something that I'll probably never understand, but will enjoy when watching. :D

Ah yes, I remember realizing that error now, but I thought that it would not amount to much and by the time I realized it, it would have meant redoing alot (I think it was when I returned to the room on the way out). At the time I was alot less methodical than I am now (mainly out of necessity, zelda = 80 mins, mario = 10 mins). But that is no excuse to sacrifice quality for quantity. So anyways, impressive start Omni, and keep up the good progress (whenever you resume).
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Uggh what was I thinking! Of course you can define the distance function but how could it be a metric space when distance(A,B) != distance(B,A) //runs away in shame

Can some one make a video showing how to get in to the The Chris Houlihan room? That would be kewl.

Ok. Here you go: Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to The Past (U) [!].smv. I didn't bother optimizing all the movements. Considering players can do this on the console consistently, I don't think there's much point in doing it tool-assisted. Perhaps a more interesting challenge would be to make a video that shows how to obtain the room using 4 to 5 of the different possible routes.

What kind of run is this going to be? A 100% Items Run? The SDA 100% run is only little over 2 hours long. But with Optimization using the Save and Quit technique, the run can be improved by at least a few minutes. JUst thought I would ask what type of run it is, hehe.

A 100% run here would be maybe 30 minutes faster, probably. "A few minutes" is a huge understatement.

I think so too. There are some major glitches that are very hard or impossible to execute without tool assistance. But, looking forward on this run :)

Well, 1:18 is the TAS of the minimalist, and the run that's yet to be put up by me is 1:35. So 17 mins just for minimalist...I think 30 mins for 100% is a reasonable improvement over the real run.

Is anyone going to try the 100%-items run?

Wow 1:35! I thought that 1:39 was already pushing the limits :) And you were so adamant about that being the final version too :-) Guess you are getting bored waiting for Twilight Princess. Really looking forward to seeing it :)

Thread resurrection... activate! I am a newcomer to the forums... so new, in fact, that this is the first post I've dared. I decided I'd try a Zelda:aLttP 100% items run. I have currently completed the first pendant (edit: and gotten the Pegasus Boots) in about 40500 frames, which is about a minute and a half faster than speeddemos' current best. I probably won't be able to keep making comparisons for too many more dungeons, because I (luckily) have worked out a different path. I don't have webspace currently, so I can't provide a copy of the .smv file. :(

If you're lookin' for webspace, try using Webpost. It's only 1MB, but it should get the job done for you for the moment. http://www.webpost.net

How are you compared to flag's run?

Does flagitious have a 100% items run in progress? I looked through the thread and couldn't find it. Here is my current work-in-progress; this version is at 56292 frames ~= 15m38s, in the second half of the second pendant dungeon. I do use save and quit, I do use flagitious's wobble trick, and I will be using the levitation trick when I need to. This definitely won't be the final version; watching flagitious's speed run, the speedrundemo's 100% item run, and digging through this thread have given me ideas on how to improve it. So far the tentative route (leaving out heart pieces for now, and mugging for rupees until the forest) is: -castle -sanctuary, quit warp to house -1st pendant, boots, quit warp to house -book, quit warp to house -desert dungeon, quit warp to sanctuary -death mountain and hera's tower, quit warp to sanctuary -bet rupees in the woods, grab mushroom, master sword, quit warp to house -castle, agahnim -crystal #1 -flute boy, to town, bottle, net, bird, bottle, crystal #4 -cloak, flute to house, castle warp, temp warps to drop mushroom and get powder, quake, flippers, boomerang -flute to mountain, ether, staff of byrna -flute to village, drop off sword for tempering, get 1/2 magic, get sword back, get locked chest, flute to location 7, tile warp, temp warp to unlock the chest, bombos -crystal #6 -flute to location 7, crystal #2 -crystal #5, bridge bottle, flute to location 8, ice rod -flute to location 7, tile warp, big bomb run, arrows, 4th sword -flute to village, tile warp, crystal #3 -flute to mountain, cut across the bridge at the bottom, tile warp, crystal #7, mirror shield -ganon's tower, red armour -final boss Thanks for the tips so far!

No, but up until the end of the light world (with the possible exception of grabbing the heart container in the sanctuary, and in the dungeons) the routes should be similar. And not beyond comparison. Did you manage to beat my work up until Zelda by more than 4 frames? (I'll watch the WIP when I return from work.)

Do you plan to feed the faery in the southern lake with rubies so you can carry more bombs/arrows or is the definition of your 100% just to collect all items/swords/shields/armors/bottles? If you're nitpicking visiting this faery would belong to the run, but it would also be damn boring. And what about heart pieces?
